Hi Guys Having sold my 2011 Repsol Blade, I'm now in the position to purchase a 2015 model.... Yessssss, my first ever brand new bike. Is the Repsol version available in both ABS & Non ABS I'm going to view a newly arrived NON ABS model on Saturday, but wondered if it's also available with ABS on the Repsol version. Info seem's a little sparse still and we're well into January and also quite confusing, as on many of the 2015 specs on the web, it suggests on 2015 models ABS is only available on "Red" bikes. I'm sure this is wrong, but it confuses what should be a straight choice even before you get to view the bike. Regards Jim
Yes available in abs ,would go for non abs but hey up to you, could not pay me to get a abs model shite
Never had an ABS bike before, and I know what you mean about ABS issues. Decisions Decisions.........
Jim, Whichever you go for hope you have lots of fun. Great position to be in waiting for a new bike, plenty of pics for us when it arrives.
Jim, as we all know the ABS issue has been done and discussed to death. 2 camps...its simple...if you have/had an ABS and no issues then you ain't got anything to complain about. If you have/had an ABS with issues, depending on the resolution or lack of resolution, you will potentially have pretty strong thoughts about the system, the brand, the dealer support etc etc. IMO, an ABS Blade is a lottery, you either get one that works or you get one that gives issues, its that simple. If you get issues, then there is a good chance you will end up hating the bike. This is notwithstanding the extra ongoing service costs of an ABS Blade and potential service and parts costs when the bike is out of Honda warranty. The components are eye wateringly expensive if you end up with a component that needs replacing. The other issue is that as an average, the dealer network is like the system itself, you either get a good dealer and backup, or you get a clueless dealer. None of the above is intended to slag off the system, I am just giving you first hand experience and my thoughts on the plus and minus of buying an ABS Blade. Now my personal experience fell into the never able to fix the system camp, and tbh it shattered my faith in Honda, as a very long time owner of Honda products, it was clear they did not give a flying fook about their customer base. To put some meat on your original point, I bit my tongue and reluctantly gave Honda my hard earned for a 2014 Non ABS......not looked back, best decision I made, once again I am happy with my bike. It does not change my views on Honda UK, they are a pile of shite IMO, but I have to ride a bike 6 days a week, so it has to be one that fits my needs, and that just happens to be a Honda. The main issue is simple....for the average rider day in day out, is ABS a rider aid?.........simple yes it is and 99.9% ABS bike systems work unseen in the background. And that is the nub of the issue, the Blade system has too many flaws and is to complex for its own good, the other systems do exactly the same thing without all the baggage a faulty Blade ABS system might give you.
Thanks for taking the time to give your first hand exprience of Honda's ABS. My 2011 blade was non ABS, so i haven't had to experience the gitches which many of the ABS owners seem to have experienced. I must admit, that I thought they would have had it all sorted for the 2015 models, but I bow to your knowledge and agree with all of the points you have mentioned. And, I'd rather rely on my experience in keeping myself out of trouble, than I would spending 12k on a bike that I wouldnt enjoy. I don't deny that if the ABS works just once, it could keep out out of trouble and expence then it would be worth it. BUT.... If you get one the constantly plays up, that would totally p-ss me off. So.... I think I'll stick with what I know, and go for the non ABS and spend the saving i'll make on a few goodies (RG Crash Bungs, Honda Double Bubble, Tail Tidy & comfort seat).
Go with the Blade yes but steer clear of ABS imho. The delights of new bike ownership diappeared as soon as I left the forecourt on an 09 Repsol and an ABS fault appeared. 2 months later and the bike laid up at the dealer then at Honda UK with no resolution in sight they offered me another new bike. Wrongly, I went for another ABS as I thought this was an isolated case at the time. Having said that there are no issues with mine but if I'd known about the servicing constraints then I wouldn't have bothered with another. Anyway, enough negatives, go non-ABS and it's a Blade, you'll love it.
Hi Billo....... Long Time No Chat ! ! I think last time was when I posted a pic of my 2011 Repsol after I'd just purchased my RaceFit Exhaust, and your eagle eyes spotted from the photo that I'd still left my ABBA stand bungs in the frame....... Saved me loosing them by a couple of minutes... LOL. I think I've been convinced to do what I already knew in the back of my mind.......... but it's nice to get others views too. NON ABS IT IS. I just couldn't face spashing out on a brand new bike only to be plagued with ABS issues down the road, plus the added expence over the years with the additional maintenance needed on the ABS, and as already said...... the ABS Items are mega expensive if something goes wrong. I'll be quite happy going NON ABS..... I've never had it, so I don't think i'll feel like I'm missing something. Looking at bike later this afternoon once they've got it out of it's crate..... VERY EXCITED Good to be back again....... Been six months since I sold my last blade and thank god the weather has been shite, or i'd have had way more withdrawal syndroms.
Things are going to get interesting very soon for Honda when all bikes have to have ABS. I wonder what will happen to Fireblade sales.
Hi mate, yes I remember that one now. I take it the '11 ABBA adaptors will go in the '15 frame. New bike time, it's a great feeling. Although there's nowt wrong with my Blade and absolutely love it, I'am geting itchy feet again, certainly after seeing the Panzer at the bike show. I've made enquiries and hopefully going along for a chat when they launch it on Feb 7th. A lot of money though and maybe a wrong decision but I'll make my mind up on the 7th. Enjoy the Blade!!
The BM certainly is an awesome bike. I thought I was doing well buying a new blade....... LOL. I'm a relatively short 5' 7" and the blade fits me perfectly and one of the main reason for sticking with it, plus the build quality and the fact that I don't think I could handle any more power than the blade puts out for the road.. LOL. My 2011 blade could have sat in a showroom and still looked like a new bike after 3yrs of use. What sort of money does that BM go for ??? I'm hoping the Abba Stand adaptors fit, I'm sure they will as the frame has basically remained the same on the 2015 bikes.
They won't be fitted with the fly by wire system. They will be fitted with the Bosch system like most other bikes
Oi.......pipe down at the back......the mans just managed to decide he doesn't want abs and your throwing more options at him!
