Has anyone ridden Mugello? Was watching some trackday onboards of the place and it looks fantastic. Quite expensive though and you even have to pay extra on top for pit garages. Also appears they don't run less than four groups either. So what are your experiences of the place?
I did it last year. It is Fantastic. Expensive yes but worth it. It's 4 groups but the sessions are still 20 minutes. So you get 5 sessions a day, two in the morning three in the afternoon, and hour's wait between sessions. To be honest it was that hot when I was there that this was plenty of track time. There is a big clock counting down at the end of pit lane and they are excellent at getting the sessions off on time. At the end of a session you leave either at Savelli or the normal pit entry so the circuit clears quickly. The Italian marshalls are also great. Wherever possible they deal with incidents quickly under a yellow flag where in the UK it would be an instant red. We're not used to paying extra for garages but outisde of the UK and Spain this isn't unusual. If you like a lot of space you need to pay even more for a 'premium' garage as they squeeze them in to the 'standard' garage. Exactly the same garage just more bikes in it. Coming over the brow of the rise on the main straight at full chat but not yet being able to see the corner is awesome. The rest of the circuit really flows, no nasty chicanes. The section from Casanova through Savelli and Arrabbiata 1 and 2 has to be my favorite of any track anywhere. The hotel wasn't great but I know FE are using a better one this year. Not sure who No-Limits use.
Thanks for the info abv, what time of year did you go there? This track has got to go on the 'to do' list. It seems to have the lot, super fast straight, big elevation changes and mixture of corners which all seem to flow. If it looks good on the videos can only imagine how good it must be to ride!
I was there end of August beginning September last year with FE, it was great https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSt3_ED7noo&list=UUIPGVyMYFTK0V0Gz37
Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but I'm going in August and I was wondering about gearing with that super long straight...
