I've decided to send the engine away for a refresh. I also sent away the wire loom to be stripped back. Track electronics are undertaken this task, also asked to place a rain light, with the switch on the clip on. Indication of the light is on it will be the full beam light shown up. Other additions will be full set of samco hoses.New expansion bottles at the front. Just hope I can get it running, as I've never done anything like this. :d
Honda boy Good job there mate will be like a new bike, what's with the jigsaw puzzle on the floor have you lost some pieces ?
No problem col. I've booked up today for the BMW weekend at the hill. Book early as I'm sure it will be full in the next couple of months. Give me a mail when you are thinking about getting your bike out.
Strip down? Pha still in four pieces Good luck with it matey will be like new when done, one question what does the rain sensor / button do when pressed reduce power?
I'm hoping it's going to be feeling new. Rain button is for the new racing regs. You need a rear light, back to the old regs.
i remember the 1st time i stripped a bike down to it's component parts,it looks a bit scary at first, but just take lots of photo's as you go,and a good workshop manual.it's actually good fun putting it all back together.
I've sent it away to MJW Specialists. Not got the bill back, but I'm expecting to be 1K. That's with new cams to tweek the BHP. Not doing the total work myself, got a mate to assist in getting rebuilt. To help sent the wire loom away to be stripped back. I'm away for 2 weeks so should have the engine back by the time I get home. Fingers crossed it will be completed in 3 weeks time.
Sounds a great little project this! OP, your a brave man leaving those front forks sat like that without the axle pin slid back in, don't take much for a fork leg to spin and down she goes!
Got the engine back from Mark Woodage. It's sent back in a professional manner. He sent it back in a wooden box, with that in mind I am totally confident in the work he has carried out. Time will tell. Also got my wire loom back from track electronics. It looks a lot simpler to install, also got a rear rain light installed at the same time. Collected my fairings today, amazing paint job by Norrie Brunton. My 7th paint job by him, and every time he surpasses my expectations. Hopefully get rebuilt next week. Also got mark hill to make me a new end can. Was so happy with it I ordered a titanium end can. The engine refresh came to £1270. So I'm hoping it's game on.
Bike will look great with the fresh paint on mate. Hopefully see you again sometime at a trackday with the lads.
If brains has refreshed it it will be a good strong motor.. I know a few Superbike engines he's built on the quiet.. Great tuner
Yeah, you don't get a nickname of Brains for nought. He was recommended to me. Totally helpful. I'm looking forward to getting on track. When I picked it up from the courier, he had dropped it on its side. Anyone think there is any issues.???
