I don't have a lap timer fitted to my track bike but I do use a Drift Ghost cam most sessions. My question is, is the playback timer when I view it at home on my computer likely to be accurate.....ish? I'm not to within half of a second but like most track riders I do chase lap times. Just wondered what your thoughts are on this.
Not sure if this would work but if you know what frame rate you were shooting at then a quick bit of maths on the total number of frames would give you an accurate figure. However reliably choosing the same start/finish point to an exact frame would be a bummer of a job. You could use something like a qstarz device if you don't want to fit a timer.
It's not that I don't want to fit a timer....I'd love to, but my money has been spent on the engine and suspension mods. It's something I'll get round to buying maybe later this year.
Just get some velcro stuck to your tank mate and use mine, we can take turns using it, i have a new aim...
the cam will be in the right ball park,to at least give you a good idea. problem with Aim's I s that even though it gives your "actuall" lap time, people seem to knock 2 seconds off it regardless.......
I've got a PZ racing GPS lap timer but not used it in anger yet. I'd have thought the time from a camera would be near as dam it accurate.
That's good to know. As said, I'm not to the nearest half second. It's a good guide for myself to see if I'm improving.
Does it matter if you're using the same camera and camera speed as before the improvements ? It might be measuring elephants or seconds but if your faster then it's gonna read less elephants ??
