Last week a bloke reversed into my car in the works' car park. He owned up and said that he wants to keep it off his insurance's radar so I went and got a price from a local bodywork place. £200 for a full bumper respray + the cost of replacing the fog light surround.

    Sounds reasonable to me.

I present him with this figure and he starts kicking off saying that it's too expensive and that I should go get another quote

We've just had a big argument in the office and I'm literally shaking with anger :D

Is it just me??? Is it???

Tell him to either pay up or it goes through the insurance.

£200 for a full bumper respray is cheap... why should you compromise on the quality of the job just because he is cheap.

Tell him to man up and face his responsibility...

My best mate is a legal claims bod and he's advised me to do which is exactly what I've done.

He's the one who wants to avoid a claim. I've done him a favour by not involving his insurance and he's still moaning.

    Some people.........

Well just apologise, tell him you are wrong for asking that much and if he can hand over his insurance details it will be
Easier and less stressful for both of you !!!! ;)

Messer cheap skate, his excess will be
    The same or more.

    F'ck him.

Go and get another quote from a main dealer then give him that after the bell end has gasped for air give him 7 days to cash up or ring insurance you shouldnt have to do all the graft as its his fault

Pretty much. There's a cokehead spray guy who works on our trading estate that they use. They wanted me to take it there and let him blow some paint on it.

This is the same guy who painted one of the guys' wheels the wrong colour last year

That is cheap. A similar thing happened to me last year, but thankfully the guy was OK about it. He scraped the side of our car and made a small dent in the wheel arch. The bill was £700. One thing to take into account (like we did) was that if your car is still covered by the manufacturer's paint and anti-corrosion warranty, the body work will need to be done a manufacturer approved repairer - or it could invalidate the warranty. It will prolly mean a higher bill for the repair, but at the end of the day it ain't your problem - he's the one that hit you! If he complains just insist it get's handled by the insurance as others have said.

And yes, he sounds like a dick... :D

TBH Rich it's in your interest too to avoid a claim.

Even 'No Fault' Claims have to be declared on ya next renewal and that only means ya premium is going one way!

Full NCB and NCB Protection will have no effect on this hike happening.

Aye I had a similar problem with my last car when some dozy twonk went into the back of me at a roundabout.

The other party completely admitted blame and the claim was entirely sorted on their insurance, no involvement from my insurer at all, but my premium still shot up next year.

Personally Rich, I would walk round his motor with a crowbar and put all the lights in, then call it knock for knock.
