I have a advert up in the universal Jobmatch site for a carer in our home

I have just sent a email to universal jobmatch which basically stats the following
    -----
    to Whom it may concern

I would just like to ask not about a specific person but why people who apply for a job via your site send their information which I look at but do one the following things:
When we email them if they do not supply a phone number do not get back to us.
When you phone they either answer but cannot do the hours we require. which is stated on our job information.
Answer the phone and arrange a interview but never turn up.

We are finding that it's not worth our time using this site for people looking for jobs as 99% of them are not interested in a job
    regards

    -----

Now we are a good little place and in need of a care assistant but it seems no one wants a job.

We never use a agency as we have over the past 27 years always done the training and interviewing ourselves

Any suggestions on how others get people who want a job would be appreciated. I'm just venting my anger as it apparent no one wants to work

We used to use little job cards around local post offices and newsagents (may seem old fashioned but works better than the above site. )

Have you tried the local colleges etc? Don't they do NVQs in care, if so a good relationship with one would bear fruit.

Ask staff within and give them a cash incentive for getting the right person.

We use the local council or outside companies mostly for NVQ's

But the cash incentive for asking staff if they get a good member of staff in sounds worth a try. We have asked about but I have our regular Staff meeting this afternoon so will bring this up then

Sometimes you get stuck in the same routing for trying to get someone and need a kick to think of new or different ways.

You could offer as an alternative a couple of days holiday if cash incentive doesn't work.Hope it goes well mate.

UJM is not great Remal; I find indeed.com a better prospect; so far as free sites are concerned.

Sometimes it comes easy; others its problematic.

The sad truth of it all....... simply the lure of benefits, they pay too much and allow a person not just to exist but to flurish and have a family. I don't know your hourly rate but i guess its close to the min wage. To give some background to my opinion, my brother is 48 years old and has never (i do really mean never) had a job, he is happy as a pig in ****, when the Tory govt got in last time he went into a panic asking me the following ditty '' do you think they will make me get a job '', these words are still echoing in my mind to this day. I asked him why did he not work as he would earn more than he gets on benefits, he agreed but came back with this pearl of wisdom. If he gets say £1000 a month in benefits (this is total incl of housing, incapacity and all the rest of it) and the job he is applying for pays £1300 a month, then he views this as a full months work for £300, in his mind its simply not worth getting up for and being told what to do and when to do it. It is really that simple.

He truly has a comfry life, he can never be made redundant, lose his home or starve..... he runs a nice car (58 plate Fabia TDI) which is fully his and goes on one nice holiday every year. He often mocks me for working and can not understand why i bother, next on his list.... mobility ! The waster of a neighbour he lives next too just managed to get it and he thinks he should have it !! You could not make it up. The benefits paid today are as addictive as class A drugs and just as hard to get people off.

Cheer all for the heads up.

I just can't get the applying but not being able to do the hours. Some of the applications have come from wales, Birmingham etc.. thats rather daft in my opinion.

From what I hear as long as someone applies they get their hand out even if they don't make the effort :(

Great shout on indeed as I put a advert up and have had more positive feedback IE people looking for a job than people putting CV's forward just to get their benefits. (this is only my thought why they don't bother to get back to us).
