as much as i would like a brand new bike i just couldn't lay out that sort of money at the moment! i have around £7500 for a bike, would you buy an 07 bike with 1500 miles? or does the milage not really matter as still a 7 year old bike/ as not sure? or my budget will get me an 11 plate with around 7/8k on the clocks i like both shapes just waiting for something to really get my attention is there a big differance between the 2? cheers
going to commute mostly martin with the odd long journey with work, but i like a scratch now and again
Commuting prob best with newer model purely because you don't want to be doing big miles on an older engine, earlier is easier to work on as panels are simpler to get on and off and IMO better made. Again IMO the earlier model is much better looking and for me a better size.
Go for the later bike, you might even pick up a 12 plate for that money with better suspension and longer service intervals
are the service intervals on the 9/10/11 plates every 4k? and what are they on the 12? sorry for the questions mate!
I bought a 57 plate HRC with 1500 miles on 2 years ago. Could've got a newer blade for the money but love the old style. Now got 5500 miles on it and still loving it. For me it comes down to which one is going to make you smile more when you open the garage each morning. I doubt with my ability i'd notice alot of difference performance wise between the new and old but could be wrong! It's only the look of the newer bikes that tempts me to change but for me i'm not sure that'd be a blade... personal preference.
Id go with the one that makes your balls tighten when you look at it and forget about the age thing mate ! Im bias a bit as i think the 06's and 07's were the best looking they have ever made and have one... £7500 could build an awesome one too... Don't think that to much about the later ones being so much better, yeah they feel a little lighter and flick about well, but a bit of setting up will get the earlier models handling beautifully too, but even standard will out handle most out there, and as with most things, boils down to rider ability... Like i said, which look moves you internally !?
Raphael mate, you can't afford not to buy new at the moment! U say you have £7.5K to spend? Then stuff all that down as a deposit on this and then have the rest on the Honda 3 years Zero % Finance, would only be £55/month and you get a 15 Plate Bike with 2 years warranty! HONDA CBR 1000 cc CBR 1000 RA-E
I would go for the later bike, 7k mileage on a 4 year old bike isn't to excessive but its down to personal choice for model etc.
As you have enough for a 12 on, take it over the 07 every time. Like you a commuter, done big miles on an 06 and big miles on a 10 and now 14, later bike is ahead in all departments unless you are giraffe dimensions, when the earlier bike is more suited. If you are riding it daily mileage is not that important, as you will rack up big miles and you might as well be on the best bike out of the 2, cant see any sense in spending that money on a 7/8 year bike that's been gathering dust mate, just stay away from ABS if you want to keep your sanity IMO.
I've just done this. There are some earlier bikes advertised at "optimistic money" IMO. A bike with 4k miles on it should have plenty more miles in it. Only just really run in! Whatever you do - enjoy!
My mates got a 2012 one in black ( newest shape) about 4000 miles. Sure he said he wants around 7 for it
