It's Off... Bandage comes off Monday.. Have to wear the space boot when I go out walking and can keep off in the house. - he said I can take it off for driving a car.. So..most my journies are from house, car and into another house / work etc....just need to be careful
Great news Sam but have to know does the "New Boot" come with toe sliders so you can get out on the bike again? ;-)
Yep..its the full length of the boot..goes on the front..and the clips hold it in place.. Have pain in my leg..the top 2 pins he took out seemed to have bled allot..they have never bled out before.. I felt fully mobile before..now seems I have to walk with sticks and finding it little difficult... May will take few days to settle and adjust. Will try some pain killers to if they help.. Finally after 4 months I can wear some jeans...
So my legs infected again!! Turns out I caught MRSA at the London private hospital and not Italy - as here they tested for MRSA before the Operations 4 months back. I am managing to walk with a stick and oddly drive with the boot. I had been on the NHS for the last few months - and bupa covered me if I got admitted - so the frame got removed under private...they have not paid for the boot £180!!! Muscles and ligaments that have not been used for months because of the pins are in very much pain..!
Just back from Stoke hospital after my latest x-ray, all going well but Fibula still taking sometime to heal and may need a plating :-(, we'll see in 4 months time but still on light duties for now while Tibia fully strengthens. This is at 36 weeks.
Wish I could Graeme but need to work to pay for leathers as old ones got cut off by ambulance crew including my boots :-( But glad they came to my rescue all the same
Managed to claim on house insurance but that went to paying bills as I was off work for 5 1/2 months and only getting SSP £87 a week :-(
I don't think the oxygen worked...in the end ended up costing me £50, as they never cashed the cheque for the sessions..defiantly made me fee better over all... I had to look at your Xray again. Last time I looked it looked fine to me. At least you got ur bike sorted... I still got a limp when i walk, pain in my shin and little on the side of the leg..lower part of my leg is still swollen..
I'm the same as you with the walking Sam, bit of a limp and sore by ankle bone by end of day with swollen lower section, however it is getting less and less
Ct scan - doc thinks its ok, and healing slow...back in 6 weeks for an xray.. I think its still bent..
Small update - the hospital sent me 4 invoices totaling near £700 for blood tests etc... So i queried it..then they asked why..as soon as i mentioned these invoices relate to MRSA i caught in the hospital - i was asked to write to the Executive Director by accounts.. Called the hospital to get the contact details, asked why..i said i need to dispute some invoices..She said i don't need to write to the ED, but then i mentioned MRSA - and i got the details straight away and told you should get an immediate reply.. lol MRSA - delayed my recovery by 3 months - not to mention the pain etc... Seems hospitals take this seriously..specially a private hospital! Leg Front: Allot better, though still have pain but is getting less week by week..have an xray in 2 weeks so finger crossed.. If the pain does not go away, the will need to cut and put a plate in..something i am not looking forward to.. Just need t get off the pain killers! Withdrawal symptoms show when i dont take them for a day..still down to 1 pill from about 8 a day!
Had a Xray today.. leg is bent by 8 Degrees - have a CT Scan in 2 weeks. Doc said looking like he will need to break the leg and put a rod down it.. having a bet leg is effecting my walking, hip back etc.. Will be a year in end of August.. All this from a 15mph accident..
