Right boys and girls, A very good friend of mine Bruce Smart told me two years ago he was going to ride his gsxr1000 round the world unsupported, film his adventures and try and raise money for charity. He bought a giant world atlas, threw away his dining room table to set up operation HQ and started planning his dream. Now Bruce is about as enthusiastic as any man can be when it comes to riding motorcycles, I often get random calls saying, “Oi Jimbo, you out? Come on lets go to Plymouth for a Bacon butty!!” he even rode to Lands end and back in a day (850 miles) because he was bored!! Anyway, I have to admit even I thought this was just one of Bruce’s crazy ideas that we would talk about for years to come but never do.... however he went on to explain that he’d promised his mum during her last few days that he would fulfil his life dream. I knew he was deadly serious...and realised - shit, think he’s actually going to pull this off!! A year later and Teapotone was born, an 18 month, unsupported, 100,000 mile round the world trip aiming to raise £1million for his selected charities, St Christopher’s (who cared for his mum), Born free, the Children’s Trust and Royal British Legion on an unmodified GSXR1000. I cannot tell you the amount of effort he has put into this getting it off the ground trying to raise awareness, sponsorship and corporate funding etc etc etc. All of his free time is spent planning and travelling round the country doing events spreading the word and meeting new contacts. Having been on the forum a while now i’ve realised there is a massive diverse group on here from all walks of life with a huge amount of knowledge, experience and contacts.... (you know where this is going don’t ya) so thought id spread the word for him. He will embark on his journey in October next year and has done so much already including having Vango (camping equipment), Oxford luggage, R&G, James Whitam, Sir Ranulph Fiennes and many more on board but he needs all the support he can get and the more money he raises the better!! If you could take five to have a butchers at his website, say hello, buy a T Shirt, give him a tenner, offer some words of advice, tell everyone you know about it, mention it to companies who you think might be interested in backing him, buy some space on his bike and advertise you own company or all of the those it would be greatly greatly appreciated... Great cause, and great bloke, it’s also bike related so a great way to kill half hour in tomorrow’s lunch break!!! Cheers for reading – now go check out </title> <meta name="description" content="TeapotOne is a solo, unsupported, 100,000 mile motorcycle journey by sportsbike around the world raising £1M and awareness for it's selected charities, The Born free Foundation, St Christopher's Ho Trust me, it’s going to be huge!!!
He's a copper, that's their call sign for a break / respite etc!! Gets people asking and talking about it hopefully!!
teapot one's the call sign for the catering lorry that is used to feed and water police officers at the scene of major incidents where extended tours of duty are anticipated. I've been out riding with Bruce, was introduced through a mutual friend - def a nice bloke. Jimbo, haven't you tried to convert bruce from his gxr to a blade? would make his trip far more fun. LOL
It's a small small world!! I've tried and failed...told him he'd have a better chance of getting round too! Ha ha Who's the mutual friend, prob know him!
Matt's a bit of nutter on his bike, keeps it outdoors, too so not the best looking example. He def enjoys it though!
No I'm just pals with Bruce (not through work) only met Matt the once when he came to France... He hasn't been out with us since.
I think so!! I should have mentioned.....all donations go straight to the charities. NONE of it is funding the ride, thats all being done through the advertising and Bruce's own money.
Told you it was going to be huge!! Since I last posted things have moved on somewhat... He is now media partners with fastbikes Sponsored by Oxford, scotoiler, vango, and no less than bridgestone for the whole trip. Plus a load more... This months fast bike mag introduces Bruce and his trip, and they will be covering the whole adventure, along with his latest pr bsb enduro trip he done, (I was going with him but I binned the blade) Honestly guys, he really has put so much into this, be great if you could Show some support and have a look at his website to see more about it... Maybe make a donation </title> <meta name="description" content="TeapotOne is a solo, unsupported, 100,000 mile motorcycle journey by sportsbike around the world raising £1M and awareness for it's selected charities, The Born free Foundation, St Christopher's Ho
Little bump here.... Well Bruce has now got to stop talking about it - two hard years in the planning an some massive financial sacrifices will see him head for the continent in under two weeks to embark on his own personal once in a lifetime adventure and no doubt quite daunting challenge of a 100,000 mile unsupported ride around the world trip on his GSXR1000RR!!! Top fella and even better effort if you ask me.... Follow his journey in fast bikes, mcn and on here!! He has some awesome sponsors including bridgestone, kreiga, vango etc etc but is always looking for more corporate backing and more importantly sponsorship for his chosen charities as he tries to fulfil his quest to raise a MILLION POUND for charity - which btw I have every confidence he will - please check his site, buy a teeshirt, mug or anything to help this amazing cause!! Bruce smart - big respect dude TeapotOne - 100,000 miles around the world for charity And the bike has just come back from the vynil shop - it looks fooking epic. Cheers for reading guys. Jv
