Have you cleared this with Guiness yet? Reason I ask is that I was looking at breaking the record to ride from tip to toe of the America's and they told me they didn't ratify 'distance in time' by public roads anymore, as they soul encourage speeding. Lands End to John O'Groats in 11hrs is rapid. I do the RBLR1000 (1000 miles in 24hrs) every year and it takes me 17hrs riding fairly rapid. That said, it can obviously be done, so best of luck to you. If love to join you, but I've got a Tuono now and can only get about 90 miles to a tank!!!! Stay safe and enjoy it bud.

I am putting a tracker on live updates so forum can see progress all done with Guinness application in so I have to wait six weeks now to clarify attempt will be eligible as said because of speed they may not recognise will have to wait and see As well as getting signatures at either end the date is set for May fingers crossed
Whilst my sensible head says you are asking for trouble from the old bill in this age of prosecution from evidence taken by people, my f**k 'em head says good luck. If I can I would be willing to help out with a pit stop if you are coming round this way. As said it would be better to have support teams at predesignated points as that way you can maximise the fuel usage and stop when/where you want, and not where the services are.

I think if the attempt does go ahead, then those forum members who wish could supply support in the form of donations towards fuel cost, as this is going to be quite a hefty bill. 8-10 tankfuls for the attempt, plus about the same again for Graeme to go from home to the start and from the finish back home. As others have pointed out, the legalities are going to be a stumbling block with companies, (Honda/Suzuki), possibly wanting to distance themselves with what may be perceived as backing "dangerous" riding. A possible way around the legal aspect could be, contacting each county council that you intend traversing and informing them of your intentions, citing the recent government rethink on allowing time-trialling on public roads, asking that, where possible, law enforcement could provide safe passage to minimise disruption. Again, a night attempt would go a long way to help that route, I know you said about vision and road conditions, but the majority of motorways are pot-hole free and lit which is where most of the night work would take place. If you haven't already, maybe cite a charity that any proceeds raised by sponsorship towards the attempt would go to, then it wouldn't seem like it's just a jolly by a crazy biker..
The Cynic in me just thinks all the Rozzers need to do is use your info for a record attaempt to average your speed over the whole journey, much as they do now, and by default you'll get banned?

I think doing it on a C90 moped and getting a record on that would be more interesting - or even run the two side by side, 1,000cc Fireblade vs a C90 (or something like the new monkey bike / Grom) to look at economy and time etc. With no 'time / record to beat' the interest would be in saying 'we let 2 / 3 / 4 of our bikes do this endurance test, here is how they got on' if the Blade returns 50mpg and is fastest then great, but also good if the NC700 gets 75mpg in second and a moped 90mpg or whatever. Call me a cynic but I'm not sure you will get large scale support if you are going to have to be breaking speed limits to beat the record - it does not sit well with many companies social responsibility policies (yes I know I am nerd and shoot me down for it but that's from working for a large corporate company)
Alblade it's not a test of speed and breaking the law it's about endurance and time,the two previous records must have broke the law or was there no speed limits back 30 year ago ?
