not trying to hijack your thread but what's the benefits of this modification, is it for the track or road? are the later forks a lot better ?
Few reasons really, it will be a good upgrade for the bike and I like to make things different and personilise.
well done Tezza ! Good thread mate, and very well timed as i too am thinking of doing the same mod and then get them reworked by MCT ! For some reason i thought the later forks were a bigger diameter and would need to put the whole front end on and all that messing about, so result ! Actually, i just had a "doh" moment then, didn't i ! You must have changed the yokes for the spindle to be too short !? Is the headstock the same size ?
I've used my original yokes, it's just the design of the lower fork thats the difference, the new forks fit perfect in to the yokes. I found the other thread ok but didn't really answer the questions, Im hoping at the end of the upgrade I can post all parts and dimensions and pictures needed to do it. I have a full set of brake and clutch lines sat here ready to go on, I also took the plundge and ordered that Danmoto gp silencer to give it ago but not arrived yet.
Sounds good but wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a set of Ohlins from Kyles racing than buying a set of 2013 forks, anodising them and reworked at MCT ? I would think it's gonna cost me est. £600 all in to upgrade.
Making them gold like Ohlins, and MCT suspension are suppose to be a bit clever with suspension tuning etc ! A nice ride in ride out service ! Ive just got the heads up about Matris cartridges and i the Gilesy sports a set of them, so presently i'm hunting them down
Umm, got me thinking,, Ill get my forks on see how it goes, it might be something ill look in to I was planning a tuned head and cams next. I might need abit more power, my buddy have just bought a zx 14, Two brothers exhaust filter and map, another mate had a little go on it yesterday, says it is a missile.
