Just got into work, logged on and fired up my favourite site (my favourite worksafe site that is ) and hmmmmm. Still, can't be all bad,the smileys look good and that godawful orange thing has gone from the top corner
I know exactly what you mean there Colin about been shut behind doors the more I try to use it the more I really don't like it it's not easy to navigate around the site and seems hard work to browse.
This is all part of the new 'flat' disease, you may have noticed websites everywhere with this very similar/same style recently. You can't avoid it, it's f****n everywhere. They were specially designed after consulting what 7 and 90 year old surfers wanted. Everything must be BIG. The icons are BIG, the fonts are BIG, the spaces are BIG, this all means you have to scroll and scan the screen much more than before. Because everything is 'BIG' it's now better, right? I'm not against change but prefer evolution to revolution. You'll get used to it cause you won't have a choice. Hopefully Mr web designer will slowly incorporate all the functions of the old site within this new 'craze' because that's what it is. http://www.rootstudio.co.uk/notes/post.php?s=the-flat-design-craze-explained
On the I pad it's much much better (as it looks like the desktop) - would be sweet if latest post panel worked and the latest threads were listed as before.... Phone is pants still
There are so many improvements to this forum compared to the previous software. Here's some: Responsive design. Much better picture uploading (drag/drop into text editor) Much better admin / mod features Better Anti Spam Less server intensive Fully supported and updated (old software was end of line) More future proof Better user messaging We've all been used to the old design since 2011. So its a radical change. The thing is, it was inevitable. I promise that I will work hard to get everything as good as possible for us all. I don't do things like this to piss people off, or for changes sake. I do it because I 100% believe it is the right thing to do for the forum. Hope you all understand The more you use it, the more features you will discover. Give it time Rob.
well it wont from me, I almost to cancelled my sub, all down to the width of the forum, its really **** ME OFF I hate it on my PC ??
I will list the features as I remember. Here's a great one. Want to get someone's attention to a thread? Tag them. To tag someone, use this format you see, by putting an @ sign in front of their name, like this: @Remal It will automatically find them and send them an alert.
