End of the day it's all just plastic and metal. It can be fixed. Accidents happen. Bit annoying but in the grand scheme of things it's a minor annoyance.
It really is an "OH SH*T" moment isn't it Rich, I've done it a couple of times with the blade, the worst was when the side stand sunk into the soft ground in my front garden and acted like a fishing barb when I was trying to pick it back up, had to enlist the help of my laughing daughter to get it off the floor. My Suzuki fell over in the shed, I'd just wheeled it in, put it on the side stand, as I walked away it fell over, I hadn't noticed the front wheel was on a bit of wood, caused it to roll forward enough top pop the side stand back up. I had to drag the bike on it's side to get enough space to pick it up !!
After numorous occasions doing similar, I now religiously always keep the side stand down whenever messing around with paddock stands and always have a hand on the bike ready to pull it to the left ! Saved it a few times during them cold stomach twisting moments...
bugger.. these bikes are heavy buggers if you haven't been near then for a while.. easy to catch you out
I do exactly the same. I was round the right hand side of the rear of the bike with the side stand down ready to shove it back over if it started to go. I just had a bit of a brain fart moment when it started to go. That's why I felt so daft. Lol.
Sorry to hear this Rich. Glad it wasn't too bad. Always a bit squirrely when my bike's on the paddock stand. It's inherited from the Ducati which couldn't have the bobbin type, so it's a 'resting on the swing arm' type and I'm always convinced it's not sat straight.
Several years back I bought a Yaaaaaaammmmmmhhhhhhaaaaaa ( someone has to), anyhow....got it home, put it on the bike lift, lift went up and bike somersaulted to the ground.....FFS.....I had only owned it less than an hour, it was a minter too.........should have known the bike was telling me it likes to be catapulted across the grave.......and it did.....several times in the few years I owned it!
Cheers, Ken. Like I say it's not too bad and I'm pretty philosophical about stuff like this when it happens. There are plenty of things to worry about in life but a bit of paint rash and a snapped mirror ain't one of them.
I was saying to the missus yesterday that I really didn't particularly feel like working on the bike. I made myself go out to the garage and get on with it. I forget to listen to myself sometimes.
Some real quality insight into a failing many of us have, I'll remember that......... (I forget to listen to myself sometimes) Mike.
