Eventually Europe et al will pass a reg which will require the fitting of some speed limiting/monitoring/reporting gadgetry. I can see bike sales plummeting when that happens, and a demand for older bikes in the same way as when they limited 50cc mopeds back in the 70's and Puch's become popular.

as they are only guildlines i didn't think they had to stuck to these as speeding is a act of absolution, i was under the impression a 1mph then you have commited the crime, as to say.

i know one of our guys got done at 72 on the m180, with no road work ect, took it to court and lost!!!

Yes they are recommendations, but they are recommended by the Chief Constables and so they carry some weight. Doesn't stop them doing you for less though.

In my experience, It is very unlikely that this would be considered an exceptional circumstance, but..... It might be regarded as mitigating circumstances.

Exceptiona circumstances really have to be a situation where for example a disqualification would bring exceptional hardship, so for example if your father in law relied on you to take him to the Hospital for treatment on a daily basis and there was no one else able to provide that transport, then that may be considered exceptional.

It happens. Embarassingly enough, I got done with an SP30 on the M11 by a couple of Essex's finest 5 years ago, for averaging 72mph over 1/2 mile, on a pretty quiet part of the motorway on a thursday afternoon. "did you know your peak speed was actually 75mph". Grrr. Was polite to the officer and took it on the chin, thinking of some occasions when I properly deserved a ticket, but did think it was unfair and over-zealous!

Performance Car manufacturers are already worrying about future sales due to the inevitable wholesale adoption of the 'Black Box' recorders that the Kidz have fitted now to bring their insurance down.

These units already actively report speeds, harsh acceleration and braking etc back to the insurance Co's who in turn email the Kidz with a warning that if it continues their insurance will be cancelled etc etc

This will come to us all at some point and then we'll all be driving a cheap Diesel.

A reprocussion of this may be that Trackdays get busier as Peeps will only be able to get their fix on Track

I've just been to court as I was doing 61 in a 30 in a vito van.
Sounds bad, but it was at night, a dual carriageway, A205 through SE London.
I grew up around there and it was all a 40, but one section is a 30.
And the old bill decided to do a speed camera trap.
He stopped me, very polite, after so chat he offered me a fixed penalty.
Lucky or what, but due to doing nights lost track of days and when to hand my licence in, but was a week too late. Doh court summons.
Had a day off work, dress smart, got there early, explained what happened and there's no excuse for speeding, bah bah bah.
The magistrate just looked at her chart for speeding, didn't really listen,
ended up with 6 points and a £300 fine, £85 court costs and pay victim fund £30 = £415.
Now just got a smaller plate and going to make it faster .
You try riding a bike with 9 points, not much fun.
Numpty of the year once again, me and dates.

Is there any technology that falls on the "driver" side of the equation to help keep licences clean. I've always loved the idea of having a electronic flip numberplate. lol

I picked up an unmarked bike in 2013 when out for a blast and just didn't spot him back there. Had me 120 in a 60, 65 in a 50 and 50 in a 40. Proper shit myself but after we talked for 5 mins he said he'd just send me on a rider awareness course. And that is the moment my fast road riding ended. Just save it for the track now.

Slightly off topic. Our lass drove home the other night in a fit of tears, bawling that she had just got caught doing 35 in a 30. When she described the camera as showing her a frowning face as she went by I laughed, but she just didn't get why :D

I can see an upcoming market for black box "fixing"/remapping services etc, when they do become more widespread.

I can understand if I got done for no insurance and the fine is for people who claim from the fund, but I'm always covered fully.
Someone at work said on some cop show the guy got chased, got stopped eventually, had no full licence, insurance and got 6 points and £250 fine.
    Justice.!!!!
