Just checked the orange against my old 2011 rear seat cowl (Which I kept)....... Same Colour, must be just the new paint that makes it look brighter. Definitely the same orange as my old 2011 bike.
Cheers jim, I heard a few people saying how bright the new ones are, I think they may have seen the Grantham one which is really bright! Or maybe it looks brighter next to the white instead of the blue. Either way looks great mate!
That looks awesome Jim. Congrats on the new toy. I do like the new Repsol scheme and yes the orange does look lighter, but probably an optical illusion because it's next to so much white paint now. I'd not be able to sleep knowing that was in the garage just waiting to be ridden. You must have willpower the size of a small planet!
Yes, but they're on back order, expected at the end of the month...... Arghhh LOL. I saw the Grantham Honda Repsol at the NEC Show, and yes..... It certainly did look bright.
Willpower........ Not a lot I'm afraid, but it's raining at the moment so the decision is made for me. And every time I look at those new shiny tyres I cringe........ I've always hated new tyres, I'd be quite willing to swap for some part worn. I'll be taking it real easy for a while and having to run it in helps.
You can tell it was designed for the cowl really, with the rear seat in place it just has some random dashes of colour. Look forward to seeing in the flesh
Venturesheild 3M Paint Protection booked to be done next Saturday. I never intended to have this done, but had so many people telling me I should get it done, I guess it's not a lot when you take into account the value of the bike. Lets face it, repairing paint chips on a repsol paint scheme wouldn't be cheap, so better to lay out now and try and protect it. Any advice on keeping the Venturesheild 3M looking nice and glossy appreciated.
Ventureshield is well worth doing Jim, had it done on mine before it turned a wheel on the road, cost £175 I think. Oh and don't worry about the suspension setting adjusters not matching up, they never do even though they will be set the same. I had the BPF forks on my Blade and on the below ZX10 and they both are miss matched when set correctly, no good for the OCD but U get used to it once you've checked em!

I've been quoted £195, but that's for one of their approved installers "PaintGuard" coming to my house to fit it, so I'm happy with that. Before my previous 2011 blade, I returned to bikes after a ten year absence with a 2008 ZX6, great bikes.
Well, this morning I had the 3M Ventureshield applied to the Fireblade........... and in my opinion you should NEVER attempt to apply the "Full Kit" yourself....... LOL, maybe a tank protection kit, but that's it. I got Steve from Paintguard in Horndean, Hampshire to do mine, he's been doing it for seven years and it still took him over two hours and his experience showed. Having read all the info on how to do it yourself, they make it look so easy, but from watching Steve apply the full kit to my bike, I can assure you it isn't. He used three different fluids to ensure it fitted and remained in place and all the edges and curves were perfect, these liquids he mixes himself....... I have no idea what they were apart from one is ionised water, one is ionised water with a very small amount of soap, and one was Isopropyl alcohol (Whatever that is). My bike is brand new and I spent hours cleaning it to make sure there was no particles on the paintwork to ensure I got the best job, but Steve spent a lot of time ensuring every panel was clean before he applied each section of the ventureshield. I took a few pictures as he was applying it and you'll see that he used three brilliant white lights which highlights any imperfections. The pictures aren't good (IPhone) but will give you an idea of what was involved. I have three strip lights in my garage and always thought it was well lit, but the lights he used made it look like I had no lights in my garage.....LOL, I think I needs some of these. The cost....... £160. You have to look VERY closely and have 20/20 vision to see where the ventureshield is applied, it's almost invisible and certainly less visible than the stone chips you would likely get if you didn't have it. Thought I'd take a quick pick with my old helmet, which is the only Repsol theme'd helmet you seem to be able to buy nowadays. Also spent thirty minutes fitting my new levers as I've never worked out why Honda fit silver levers to an otherwise all black fittings, so I really lashed out and bought a set of all black adjustable levers with black adjusters, just looks like it was meant to be (Not fitted in the picture above) but I'll get some pics up soon.

Suspension is the obvious improvement and the engine seems a little smoother. Will need to wait till it's ran it to see the real differences.
Well, it two weekends I've managed to clock up 400 miles at under 6k rpm. So frustrating running in a big bike, but I resisted the temptation to pin the throttle, hoping that in the long run I'll end up with a really nice engine. Another 200 miles and then I can get it in for it's first service at 600 miles and be able to open it up. Deliberately been solo riding to get the miles on her. Today did 160 miles and my butt is really paying the price. I have to admit I haven't really noticed the difference in having the comfort seat........... It's not that comfortable. One more weekend should see me running with the crowd. A good turnout in the Portsmouth area at Loomis today and also at Portsdown Hill (Big Micks Burger Van).
