I agree great road best before the leaves come on the trees. To make a great circuit go as mentioned Dunster Wheddon cross the road from over the top of the Bredon hills (left when going south) is worth a detour then back to wheddon cross and then through the middle of exmoor to Simonsbath over the top to Bendon Two Gates and down to Lynmouth then A39 back to Minehead (watch out for the jumps when ascending countisbury hill from lynmouth the road turns blindly after the crests) or do the other way round Porlock Hill is wicked fun to go up. Defo do out of season and when everyone is in eating dinner or early morning. PS sheep like to sit on warm tarmac on summer evenings.
A5 through from Llangollen to Betws y coed and on to capel curig and ogwen pass to Bethesda. Horseshoe pass Llangollen to Ruthin via Nant y Garth pass Llanberis pass to capel curig. Pentrefoelas to Denbigh AKA Denbigh Moors A470 Betws y coed to Blaneau Ffestiniog (The Krimea Pass) Then down to Penrhyndedraeth - Beddgelert via Nantmor- Beddgelert to capel curig via Nant Gwynant (very bumpy from Penrhyndedreath to nant gwynant. Alternative loop from Bleanau Ffestioniog go left to Bala via Llyn Celyn or down to Dolgellau and keep going on A470 return East on A483 to Oswestry. Word of warning Tourist season is a no no on these roads safest time is weekdays out of season or fri / sat night 7-9pm summer or early morning, weekend afternoons are dangerous and a waste of time.....leave it for the tourists. Also most are stone walled with no run out so keep your lines tight and watch out for tourists doing 3 point turns , emergency stops for photo's and generally looking at the view and straying all over the road They are still policed so be warned but at a much more resonable level than a few years ago. Long straights and speed limit changes when entering villages are where you will get caught out, but thats common sense.

A285 Chichester to Petworth. Came across this riding back from the Festival of Speed at Goodwood. A really nice ride for West Sussex
Try the B5105 from Ruthin to Cerrigydrudion, 14 great miles of twists and turns. Also try hundred house road A481 to Builth Wells and then the B4520 to Brecon both great riding roads and keeps you off the busy A483. Ride the B4391 Bala to Penybontfawr delivering miles of pleasure. Also the A548 Llanrwst to Abergele a great road to test a Ducati on from Woods. Next time your in Glossop give the snake pass a miss and ride over Holme Moss on the A6024 Woodhead to Holmfirth plenty of shell grip to play on. Also the popular Via Gellia A5012 near Matlock 50 limit through the wooden valley and can be policed on Sunday/BH. Give the A5004 a go only 8 miles of fun from Buxton to Whaley Bridge but also a 50 limit like a lot of roads in the peaks now.
A44 from Worcester all the way to Aberystwyth,the last 20 miles are stunning they have everything and more
For me a few roads stand out - the A82 from Fort William to Portree on Skye - think I'd use my last ever tank of juice on that road. Mid week on a warm summers day its epic, just observe the goat warning sign as they really are daft creatures. For covering the ground the B7076 from Gretna to the southern Glasgow conurbation is well worth a ride. Other road in Scotland is the Scotsburgring from Glencoe round Loch Leven Hawes to the Scottish Border at Carter bar via Middleton in Teasdale, Alston, Hexham is pretty cool too.
Did this route on Saturday. Absolutely stunning scenery and roads 400 mile round trip taking in Balloch , Aberfoyle, Callander, Lochearnhead, Crief, Dunkeld, Blairgowrie,Braemar, Granton on Spey, Aviemor, Spean Bridge, Fort William, Appin, Oban, Lochgilphead, Arrochar, Garelochhead and back to Balloch. Think I'll be making this an annual event.
