Currently use an old Dell Latitude D630 for messing about with my Woolich Flashing kit for my bike and surfing etc from the Garage. Sold it on now as it also had Mercedes STAR Diag software plus interface equip on it so need a replacement. Quite like the Lenovo Thinkpads like this? http://www.misco.co.uk/product/2329...y-Windows-7-Pro-1-Year-Warranty-Refurb-Laptop Or should I go with a new model like this? http://www.laptopoutlet.co.uk/80ec0...-laptop-amd-fx-7500-8-gb-ram-1tb-hdd-8gb.html
You've never heard of Lenovo (used to be IBM, also own nec and now own motorola)? Wouldn't buy Dell crap after sales service if you have problems, Sony look nice but break easily, apple probably won't run the software you want and HP aren't as good as they used to be! Lenovo are pretty good
Had business IBMs (now Lenovo) and they were OK. Personally I get Dell laptops but buy them from their outlet store and stick extra warranty on. Have bought family HP laptops before but I don't personally get on with them. Nearly bought a Sony once but read about how funny they can be for things like BIOS updates and restricting functionality.
crApple? You're cleaning it wrong http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/03/20/icaramba_my_macbook_has_cancer/
crApple we don't get virii or malware http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/0...yeah_youre_going_to_need_to_patch_them_again/
Do you live in a cave! I have a Macbook Pro 15 as my daily driver! I have an 11 inch Lenovo Thinkpad X201 which I use for Triumph Tune ECU software and my old Range Rover L322 and VW T5 software. Super little unit thats pretty quick. Once purchased a Sony Vaio and it was shite, Dell aren't brilliant (had a few over the years) HP are crap and Acer stuff is usually ok. The big problem with most of them is the OS. I hate windows vista and 8. XP was best and 7 is ok with a bit of extra memory. I'd buy a refurb'd Lenovo myself. The X201 I have can be found for less than £200 refurbished. Saw them a few months ago on one of the refurb outlets or may have been 3000RPM maybe.
We buy Lenovo, Dell, HP, or Toshiba at work. Acer tend to be full of bloatware. Dell do some good offers occasionally direct through their site.
Have a look at the Dell outlet store. You can sometimes pick up a bargain. I get an XPS13 fully spec'd for less than than retail even after I added the extra warranty.
Just flattened my bro's Acer as he couldn't do anything with it. It would totally freeze up and was mostly down to the fact it was running Vista. Stuck a copy of 7 Pro on it and it's flying. In all honesty the Dell's I've bought were Vista too and maybe that was where my issue with Dell has come from. Wouldn't get another Vaio tho!
...... or had to support them in the past, and prefer proper *nix and mobiles that let's 'em do whatever they want
Lenovo Laptops are amazingly reliable, only laptops certified by NASA IIRC. I also rate Toshiba who do some pretty smart machines with 17" screens, Only thing I don't rate with those lenovo (and check the resolutions) is the 1600x900 display can make things look tiny, but I know you can adjust them. Plus the red dot is ace (15 years using a red dot here and can't get on with touchpad / trackpads now on any other make) Current Lenovo stuff has a flat power connector as the round 20v one was too big for the slim chassis / form they are using now
I know this a chunk of extra cash (so you'll need to whirl your sonic screwdiver a bit faster for a day or two) but a really big, high powered machine. http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/comput...50-17-3-laptop-silver-10109017-pdt.html#cat-0
Would that be with or without multiplexer when using DAS ? , lost my contact and looking for program ....for without multiplexer
I used to work in an IT department and still got both OS (Apple and Windows) all over my house. After decades of experience I have to say that I never had real problems with Apple products, but a lot of problems with Microsoft products. Also, most of the people can’t afford to buy Apple products and therefore, they don’t like them, even if they have never used them in real. Just to let you know, I am not a salesperson for Apple but I had to work and test most of the systems and hardware like Unix, SAP, Linux, Novell, IBM etc. etc. etc.
So people who don't have crApple stuff are poor, jealous and ignorant? Strange that as I have dealt with Cupertino reps who have the same opinion about people who choose to use other systems
That’s not what I wrote and I don’t want to start a silly endless discussion about what people think about a product. End of story!
Mine was with an additional Multiplexer covering most Merc kit up to 2011 Also had the WIS program as well for full step by step on how to remove and refit everything.
