Sent my 2012 balance free shock to Ktech for a re valve and service aswell, just waiting to get out and test it with the Ktech internals in my forks.
When I changed mine to a 2012 shock I just got a standard 2012 hugger, it fits perfectly and cost about £15 with postage new from Honda Bournemouth
Kept the standard rear shock spring as both Steve Jordan who fitted the Ktec 20SSK 20mm valve kit and FCV to the forks and Ktec direct who did the shock, recommended to keep the standard spring for my weight which is 14st without kit.
I trimmed down my carbon fibre hugger which was fitted for standard rear 09 shock. If you have a non standard hugger and this is what you want to do, measure the width of the gas cylinder of the balance free shock and widen the hugger cut out to be a few mm wider then that. File down the cut edges to a smooth finish afterwards, that's what i did to mine.
Hi Foenix, I only fitted the shock at the weekend and not had a chance to ride the bike with it fitted yet but i'll give an updare as soon as I do.
Got off my arse and installed this today ... I spent longer cleaning the linkages and bolts than installing the shock... Nice easy job. Massive difference compared to old one ... Feels very plush in comparison!
Shame the rebound and compression screws are a pain to get at ... they are just at the wrong angle to get a long screwdriver in due to the subframe else you mash the screws up. Need a short stubby screwdriver to adjust safely.
Or a right angle screw driver. Ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-x-OFFSE...229?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4864958a7d
