No not your purple headed custard chuckers you warped individuals I'm looking at Helmets for next year so far I'm pretty set on a Nolan X802 Stoner Replica, what do you guys have any advice? I have a Shark RSI at the moment which I have used for the last three years.
Helmets are a very personal thing. Some makes fit an individuals head better than others. Shoei just dont fit my head comfortably. I have an ARAI quantum DNA and love it. My philosophy is buy the best and most comfortable you can afford.
Had both Arai and Shoei. Currently have the Shoei XR1100 which is nice but I do prefer the interior of Arai. They seem more plush. But Shoei offer a cheaper helmet with similar specs.
I currently have a shoe xr1100. It's comfy as and also keeps the noise & buffeting down to a minimum. As above though I would definitely try a few different makes on to see which fits best first before deciding.
I current have AGV K3 to commute in I love the design but it's quite a cheap lid. But my pride and joy is my Arai RX7 GP Haga Rep Again try them on and see what suits you then buy the best you can afford, I love in mine it has the tabs for the paramedics to remove the liner so the shell peels off but at £630 I'd expect it to do a little dance!!! I love the Suomoy lids
i have an agv, and 2 shoei's, i really like the shoei for fit and lightness, my favourite is my kagayama rep
I have just bought a Shoei XR1100 and love it, My old helmet was a AGV TI-TECH and I thought that was ok as well.
As already posted. Best fit is the mot important. I have has Arai rx7 and GT, scuberth 1pro, newest is the Shark Visor r
I bought my Mrs an AIROH DRAGON and am very impressed with the quality for the price. Cost around £250 and is carbon and kevlar construction - very light. The fit is very good also.
I have a Shoei X spirit and have had the Xr1000 both fantastic, Arai did not fit my head that well but also had shark and for the money they are excellent. I just went in to the shop and tried on as many as I could until I found one that fitted perfectly thats the main thing to me comfort
I Love my Arai Quantum Think i paid £480.00 . Nearly 2 years old now and still looks and feels brand new cheaper here Arai Quantum DNA - White - FREE UK DELIVERY
for me Id rather drive round on a 1 grand bike and 2 grand of saftey kit only got one body and head and I was so happy I had my kit on when I had that off at high speed not a mark on me at all and my head did strike the curb so thank you arai viper gt for keeping me safe just got a new rx7 yum and dianese leathers/boots/gloves after crimbo
Your not wrong bud, mind you in the past when i could not afford it I've used some naff lids and gloves, it's only now at 48 I find im at that stage in life where I can go and have the best stuff, and it feels good being able to blow nearly 2k on new kit. Who says age doesn't have it's advantages! Lol
Arai and Shoei are my personal favourites. The time has come for a new one next year and the best fit I have found so far for my head is the Arai Quantum, the right fir is essential as is comfort. As a few have said, safety is a big priority and I never skint on my helmets or any of my riding gear really. Other factors to consider are noise and misting. I would never have another helmet without pinlock antifog.
have an oldish suomy gunwind which is really nice and quiet thru the wind and last year got a xr1000 which is alao great
As others have said, fit and feel are the most important things after safety. Go to your local bike store and if they are any good, they will take their time in getting the right fit for you both in size and style (some people have a Shoei head and some Arai type, etc, etc). Remember, your want it to be comfortable as you your be wearing it whilst your riding and you don't want your concentration taken away from the road or come back from a ride with a headache.
