Motol oil gets fantastic reviews on Amazon. I am going to switch to this brand.

    Reasons I love Motul 300v:

    1) it's bright green, seriously it's like liquid snot!
    2) it smells of candy
    3) above all else, it's absolutely the best oil and my Blade loves it

This ^^. I've just changed mine for Castrol Power 1 Racing (fully synthetic) and it's noticeably smoother on the gear changes now. Seems a bit quieter too, but that might be the placebo effect :D

How often does one have to change it? I only ride on regular roads. ( don't do track days)

This is the DADDY and use it in my Tracker but tbh a bit wasted in a Road Bike.
Would use the much cheaper Motul 7100 in a Road Bike

I am sure 300 is a good oil but for any conditions even Motul website does not recommend it.
    I have 1000 rr4 and Using Shell 10 w 40 full.
It is only £28 on opie oils website

Expense in not a consideration. How many miles would you expect to get from this oil on public roads? Thanks.

Manual book says 8000 miles but I do at 6000.
All of those oils like shell, valvoline, motul, mobil, castrol are good and u can mix 10w40 with another motorcycle oil 10w40.

I don't reckon it's expensive anyway really, if you do 4k a year average on the roads then I'd do one change every year, so the bike is over serviced and at less than £50 1 time a year you can't really complain on a bike which even starting with a 03 954 Blade would be worth circa £3500 and up to £15k for an SP it's hardly a big expense to do a minor service.

Hi not sure what is the best brand, I believe that for road use, the correct spec oil from any of the main suppliers is probably as good as another, maybe you need to be a bit more selective for track use, but it probably wouldn’t make any noticeable difference, guess it’s down to personal choice. But the debate on Semi V Full Synthetic, is interesting, I have had 3 Hondas from new, two Kawasaki from new, and a 1 year old Suzuki, for the first 3 services took them all back to the main dealer for servicing, all have used Semi-Synthetic and advised/insisted to steer clear of Full-Synthetic, even on one occasion I had my Blade serviced in an independent dealers, and the service guys were well into bikes and bike racing, they also insisted that Full-Synthetic is not required or good for road use, and from their experience servicing bikes, that it definitely has an effect on the operation and possibly early problems to the clutch, they all agreed that Full-Synthetic works well for track use, because the bike is on the limit most of the time, the Putoline Rep was also in at the same time and he agreed completely with the service guys, I am not saying you guys are wrong, in fact I am not convinced either way!, it does seem to be a very grey area though!

I'm hoping some of you guys can help. I need to change the oil in my bike (2010), its done 3k from new. Should I go with semi or fully synthetic? It's a minefield, I'm new to Hondas so I don't have a clue!

    Thanks!

    Rob

I am still on the fence, When people say it lasts longer etc, most bikes do about 3k between oil changes this oil is designed for 20k, If you are not on a race track or touring, semi or fully, how much difference does it make. I will still put fully sin in mine for the 3k but as an engineer I think for my riding semi would do.?
