I'm there, doubt i'll be on my blade though as my racebike is ready to pick up tonight (after the last little accident), so I'll be taking it easy on an orange Srad...

Bad case of bike envy today! This thing was stunning and getting rave reviews from owner and his mate who had a spanking zx10!

    A good omen at 5am :)

image.jpg Had a top day today, feeling like I'm getting my mojo back slightly....

Weather held out, was a carnage start to the day in terms of all garages full as the place was packed which is unusual for Snet but thundersport are there sat and sun with no practice so to be expected...

Real mix of pace in all groups again which NL should sort as someone could get seriously hurt on days like today! Rapid guys in novice and what looked like 1st timers in fast!?

Anyway, saw Scott who got on eventually, worked on a few things and most of all had a crack and good day out.

I have to be honest and say I'm very disappointed with no-limits. MSV at Oulton contacted my missus at hospital to make sure that she was aware of what had happened and then contacted me the next day to check that i was ok. Ive had no such contact from no-limits and when i say i was very lucky not to be seriously injured i really do mean it. I was wiped out on Island bend which is the fastest part of the track. One of the other bikes, either the s1000rr or the aprilla hit me full on in the back at a stupid speed and knocked all the wind out of me followed by my own back wheel which hit me in the head nearly knocking me out. They wanted to air lift me to hospital because they thought i might have seriously damaged my spine..

This all happened because some tool decided to completely ignore the morning briefing, he attempted and undertake that would never have worked and imo was just crazy and was the exact thing that we are warned not to do. But it seems lately that this is now the norm and nothing is being done to stop it. We got a red flag in the morning session so made our way in only to be overtaken on the straight after druids by a white s1000rr wheeling all the way to the last right hander overtaking everyone. The guy was never spoken to as he continued to do the same all day. At least his overtakes were safe.

It makes me believe that the morning briefing is just a guide that no-limits would like or hope that you obey but if not then theres nothing that can be done and sadly i know numerous people now that have stopped doing track days with no-limits because it does seem to be getting out of hand and they are intimidated. Im certainly now going to get more aggressive when on track, every man for him self....

Yesterday in fast it wasn't bad, if anything looked fairly respectful in my eyes, prob is I'm prob ruining people's laps and I wouldn't say some were ruining mine but can get frustrating, and a little dangerous at the speed you approach in corners.... I'm a long way front the fastest there yesterday so the even quicker lads must be thinking the same?

In novice and inters it looked a little more aggressive, guys thinking their quick and not respecting riders... you got to adjust to the group your riding in imo.

I don't do many td's anymore and they are now becoming a more social thing for me, as the riding can be so hot and miss.

I really enjoyed yesterday, don't get me wrong, but you can see why guys that do more td's and look to be a little more serious about it are doing euro days!

The amount of track days that NL are doing the only way I can see that will help this is chrono! Not done one yet but want to try it and see how that pans out. Most folk who have done them seem to say the groups are much better paced.....

Last year I was moving up the Groups and booking into either fast or inters, then came the absolute carnage day at Donny in September. That day totally wrecked my confidence on track and the road. I went from being on a bike every day to riding a hand full of times in six months and mostly not enjoying it. It wasn't that Jimbo crashed, it was the total lack of respect for the group’s people had booked themselves into and that not everyone has to break a lap record to enjoy a TRACKDAY- Four deep into a corner in the novice group, wtf is that all about? I was in inters so you can only imagine what that was like- The day was a race meet, with the Thundersport crew as well as others in every group, end of.

I really enjoyed yesterday as I did Donny in mid-March, both great tracks that have a bit of everything- Snet's a little flat, but still lot's to offer. On both I booked myself into novice, to just ride my own ride and rebuild some confidence in my own ability. Should I have been in these groups, probably not but the groups now are just pot luck and what I didn't do was over/undertakes on anyone without leaving them plenty of space in a quest to make a personal best lap time. On occasions I was clearly being held up, I was clearly being respectful towards the person holding me up and then some fooking tool pulls a stupid move to get between us and then past the slower rider- Did I then do the same to the person in front to prove something to said tool, nope let them jump on a forum or go to their local a tell everyone what a legend they are- I'm happy with the size of my penis, so nothing to prove. (Well, more accept it's small and can't do anything about it)

The day is what the people that are on it make it, the briefings are clearly a covering of arse exercise that do include mentions of no timing devices being used- It doesn't bother me in the slightest when they are used, but then should we pick and choose what rules apply to suit our own needs? MSV are clearly stricter on their days but then it has been said it's ruined due to this.

Chrono is the only real way to ensure the groups reflect the riders that have turned up on the day. Some days I'd be happy in fast others in novice which wouldn’t bother me at all, I don’t see riding in the novice group as a stigma and do trackdays for myself not to prove jack to anyone. Even with Chrono in place if you want to race and break lap times then race in a race series where it's a given that everyone else on the track is there for the same reasons- Whatever group we’re in on a trackday we should respect those around us and be honest about our own ability, otherwise people's days get spoilt and in some cases life’s ruined for what in essence is meant to be a bit of fun.

    Just my opinion.

It's about time you need to have some sort if account with trackday companies so that they can see your previous bookings etc. If someone has a history of 6 intermediates and a dozen fast groups and then books into novices then that in itself should raise flags.

If they don't want to do accounts then setting up some database to automatically check wouldn't exactly be difficult or expensive. Cross referencing by email/address/credit card or phone number would be very simple.

Personally I believe that before too long there will be a major incident with someone in the wrong group and that the organiser will get shafted by the legal system. I know you sign a disclaimer to acknowledge the risks involved but the organisers still have a duty of care, and I am sure they are also aware that you can't sign your rights away in this country.

They are better sorting it now in a way they manage and control rather than having it forced upon them.
