Don't know how they get straight back out there after an off. It would proper knock my confidence! Lol
I see a cunning plan emerging. Is Matt getting all his crashes out the way early? Hope you are ok matey, and long may the bounces be fun.
Ive been very very lucky to not have hurt myself James and know why i crashed each time, either because my talent ran out or in this latest case someone else's talent ran out. For this reason its easy to get back on with more determination to go faster and I'm still looking at beating all my times on target
An update, times weren't great and lap timer was playing up, the session that i went best and fastest on didn't get timed for some reason But what did get timed was 1:55 and above The bike will be taken to Oulton Park tomorrow and loaded into one of MSS's BSB wagons and taken back to Colchester on Monday evening where work will begin to get it track ready for my next outing which will be at Oulton again on the 13th of next month.. Being a loyal customer and having already spent a fortune at MSS they have agreed to fix the bike on the very cheap So all is looking good and when they estimated my age after the crash they guessed i was between 30 and 35, happy days
Happy days, just off the phone with Nick Morgan of MSS Kawasaki and he can have my bike ready to go before my next track day, he's also fitting James Ellisons Superbike tank with the ninja turtle paint job from last year, has the extra bit at the bottom for more fuel and lower weight distribution. All for less than a grand and with the option of paying at the end of the year Top guy's...
Just home from a fantastic day at Oulton with the boy's, rain ruined the last session but wouldn't of gone out anyway as i seem to be jinxed by last sessions Went out with Scooby on the third session as i needed some coaching to see where i could make improvements and where I'm going wrong. The fact that i knew Scooby was following me pushed me on and i managed a 1:52 for the first time and he has pointed out numerous areas for improvement so with luck theres plenty of room to cut times much further... Cheers Scoobs Jase is back on it again, mans got some balls to be out so soon, so much respect mate... Onwards and upwards
Thought i would update this as things have moved on so much... Ive had 5 off's this year so far but touch wood there well behind me for now as I've had none in the last couple of months Inexperience has caused most of them in one way or another and with more experience comes better times and safer riding.. I had a lesson with Mike Edwards at Oulton Park about a month ago and that has helped me so so much, Its been by far the best money spent. He helped correct my lines, braking markers and throttle progression. I can't overstate the benefits you get from having a 121 with a coach like Mike. Also having good people with vast experience like scooby helps too and once he gets his new Blade sorted i shall be latching onto the back of him again... I am now happy to say that I'm another one in the sub 1:50 at Oulton and would like to think a 1:45 is potentially possible before the end of the year Im also going very well at Donny with my last visit i was able to run constant 1:45's despite of the traffic... Ive had some setbacks but hopefully we are back of course for a BSB ride in 2018
Fantastic effort mate, well done.... All the graft and lows finally pay off. Hopefully now you'll chillax and have a smile on ya face at track days lol Just goes to show how valuable tuition is, have the best bike in world but if the basics ain't there then wasted..... Will get something booked myself I think, push me on a little / get me back up to pace. This year has been worst for bikes for me by a long shot, track and road but always next......
Cheers Jimbo, i have some dates booked for September, they are: 2nd at Oulton, 8th at Donny, 16th Oulton, and 22nd Donny. If none of them are any good mate let me know and we can book somewhere else and on a different date... Would love to do some endurance next year so if you guy's are ever short of a rider I'm well up for it...
deffo going in the right direction now matt, and I bet at least 1 second,if not more you've gained coming out of cascades upto shell.check your data. my 2 days didn't go exactly to plan haha, spent more time scratching my head and fiddling than anything else, but the last session showed me the bikes not far off now, only a couple of secs away from bm,and with some suspension work, bit more fettle on the pegs (and less cement dust on the track ) i'll be back on it
Thanks scoobs and yes your right getting more consistent at being 140mph+ through that part. I still need to be harder on the brakes and faster on the approach to cascades, cookie flew past me twice yesterday on the approach to cascades The oil spill at druids killed any chance of going faster but great couple of days and fantastic weather...
Good day at Oulton Park although the weather wasn't great, i missed 3 sessions due to the rain However i did manage some consistent low 1:49's and a low 1:48, things are really going well now and I'm very hopeful of reaching my goals set at the start of this thread. I may need Gary to remove one of the "Longs" in the title
U were going well 2day matey, wished I'd been out there with ya but next wednesday will come around soon enough! Can't beat avin half the BSB grid at a Trackday to bring U along eh?
