Is there anyway I can get my exhaust tested so I know how many dB it is with the baffle in and baffle out?

I bought an app but I don't think its very accurate, 86 dB in a quiet room?!?

Go to a track on a trackday and they will test it for you.

I did that. I rode it there, but the only problem was that I spent the rest of the day on track when it passed :D

You can imagine my conversation with the mrs. "I'm just off out to get my bike noise tested". One hour later and I phone home, "Do you want the good news or the bad news? It passed, see you at 7". :D

I live quite far from any tracks, if I book a loud day do you think they will be able to test for me with baffle in and baffle out so I know for sure the next time I book a day?

An app to measure noise is never going to be very reliable unfortunately... not sure how much a proper decibelmeter is though, might be worth looking in to.

On trackdays I've seen plenty of riders get to the front of the queue and have their bike tested (and usually failed) with baffle out... whiz back round to the back of the queue, re-insert baffle, and get tested again. Seems to be fairly accepted practice.

Yep. Snetterton measured mine baffle in @ 98db on a 103db day. They offered me to come back without the baffle in, but I never bothered. Once the tyre warmers are on that's me set for the day :)

I don't mind if I have to use my baffle or not but I would hate to get to say a 95 or 98 day and be turned away I have always gone for loud days and never had a problem but I have now changed the whole system. if I know I could go to quieter days as well i would have more to choose from.

So I looked on evilbay for a decibel meter as I was curious how much they cost and I see you can get cheap, probably Chinese decibel meters for about £13
Do you think these will be unreliable and a waste of time?

Probably about as accurate as a free App.
I'd be tempted to get a few readings from different bikes and then compare it to the App, at least then you'll know its accuracy.

An ebay cheapy probably wouldn't be that accurate, but even if it was the only reading that matters is the one that the track do.

That's true I just thought I may get a rough idea of what it is. When at the track do they use handheld meters like the ones you can buy? I don't actually remember ever seeing one being used
