With the risk of sounding like this is a wind up (it isn't), I am going to ask what is probably a simple question and deserve a ribbing for it! Here goes.... Have been looking for my 1st blade (approx 2011) and have noticed some come with a silver/polished frame whilst others look matte black. Apart from the obvious difference in colour, is there any other reason for the difference?
I will apologise in advance! :D

Odd years are black, even years are silver.

Thank you. Does that mean the the 2011 models which have a silver frame are actually 2010 models, just registered in 2011?

Respols should always be silver. Not sure the rule holds 100% of the time but you can always double check by looking at the VIN.

    2008 is a 1000RR-8
    2009 is a 1000RR-9
    2010 is a 1000RR-A
    2011 is a 1000RR-B

Might help when looking at adverts :)

I have an RR-A ABS (2010) registered in 2011 black frame/swing arm, black and white colour. At the time in the shop i was also looking at a same year different colour orange/silver no ABS blade which had a silver frame.

Could it be the colour sceme denotes the frame color? Or ABS vs non ABS?

I'm pretty sure that the black with silver framed bikes were classed as special editions. Ie the 2010 with silver frame and gold wheels

Trying to figure this out is like trying to figure out how the fairings come off for the first time

It doesn't have anything to do with ABS or non ABS as I have the ABS model with silver frame and it came as a special edition

Well at least I don't feel like a compete numpty for asking now! Not as simple as I thought. It means my potential purchase is a special edition, as it has a silver frame, gold wheels and forks.:)

Other way around I think - Even years are Black, Odd years are Silver.

My 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2014 have all had black frames.

Because gold ones are special editions. :D Only kidding, my head hurts and I haven't even bought one yet, let alone wanting to take the fairing off for the 1st time!

Doesn't add up though as the black with silver frame and gold wheels was a 2010 special edition

To confuse matters even more, my potential purchase is advertised as 2011 and looks like it is the special edition! Maybe it is a 2010 bike but registered in 2011? Is that possible?
