    Hi guys,

What's the best way to get all the grease from the chain off the back wheel. I've heard people talk about using WD-40 or paraffin. Or has anybody else got any recommendations?
Plus once its off, what's the best way to keep it off?

After cleaning the chain with muc off degreaser and washing the bike,i use a bit of card behind the chain to try and prevent overspray when applying fresh lube. If there is any makes it onto the back wheel i use an orange cleaning wipe to remove it.
Best way to keep it off is not to use too much and use a good chain lube that doesn't fling off. I find Wurth dry lube does the trick.

I clean chain, then apply lube I've used WD40 chain wax over the winter & fling has been literally nil. I spray chain in small central sections so v little hits wheel, then clean wheel with gentle wet wipes specifically for getting grease off. Leave bike overnight, then wipe chain gently with cloth to remove any excess. Sometimes get a little fling with lubes I use in summer but just carry the wet wipes n clean off after first ride.

Paraffin for chain, cheap and works a treat and cleaned my chain for years using this. I used a Autoglem degreaser to remove the crap from the back wheel and also removed the grim well and keeps the back wheel looking clean

Put some WD40 onto a rag and use that to clean the back wheel, obviously making sure that you don't get it on your tyre :D

That'll take the fling your wheel in a jiffy. I then clean the wheel with bike cleaner to remove the fine film of WD40.

You can then put some wax or sealant on the wheel if you want. I do this but it never really seems to make much difference. Works OK for brake dust and road film but isn't much cop for chain fling.

You might want to give your chain the above treatment too to remove the wax / lube that you're using and try switching to Wurth dry chain lube. That stuff doesn't fling at all.

I clean with a degreaser then the soapy stuff, when done and all lubed again, I spray silicone body shine on a cloth and apply that to the wheel, seems to stop a lot of muck sticking.

I avoid all that sticky spray lube and use sae 80 gear oil. A few drops every time I go out and no thick gunk left under front sprocket cover or on the rim. A quick wipe with WD 40 and she's brand new.

+1 for brake cleaner to get rid of the grease
+1 for WD40/rug to polish the rim and keep it clean

I'm a bit OCD about my wheels...... LOL.

Having orange wheels, chain fling really shows up and it really hacks me off.

I use WD40 sprayed onto a cloth to clean off the wheels, then wipe any remaining WD40 residue off using a dry cloth, once the wheel is totally clean, apply "Autoglym Super Resin Polish" to the wheel and give it a good polish.

If you really want to give maximum protection to your wheels then apply "Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection" (This is a sealant) with this applied it makes wiping of brake dust a doddle to remove, a simple wipe over with a dry cloth will remove everything.

Then as everyone else has suggested, I recommend applying only "Wurth Dry Lube" to lube your chain, take off any access with an old but clean cloth. Then leave it overnight as it then goes slightly hard.

Well, I did say I was a bit OCD

Did you get your PCV for a good price Jim? Looking at getting one to smooth out out bottom end but haven't seen any deals as yet to tempt me to take the plunge.

Yes, I got the one that was posted in the For Sale Forum on here this morning, brand new and still in sealed box and for a late model (2015) blade. The early bird catches the worm. Price : As advertised and it's only a few miles from where I work. BINGO.
