I've had this number plate on my bike for 4 years. Had a authorised inforcement vehicle tail me for 6 miles, but never pulled me over. Note, I'm sure they where more interested in noise polition

Have had 7x5 and 8x6 and not had a problem with either! Had the 7x5 on when I got stopped in Cornwall for speeding and nothing was said about it, luckily he just gave me a warning about my speed and sent me on my way

I got nabbed (lucky I just got a warning) a few weeks ago, here in Cornwall. My plate was 7x5 didn't have the makers name and postcode on it or the bsu mark, the copper noticed all of this(my be he was having a quiet day). He put my plate on the ANPR system so next time I get spotted they will pull me to see if I changed it (which I have). He said he only let me off with a warning because I've no record for anything with them!!! He also told me it's a £100 fixed penalty . I guess it's pot luck!!!

Overall plate size is also governed by who many letters/numbers make up you reg.Found this if it helps

Which number plate laws apply to motorcycles and scooters?
Number Plates must be easy to read and meet the British Standard.
Lettering should be black on a yellow plate at the rear.
The background surface should be reflex-reflecting but the characters must not.
You must not alter, rearrange or misrepresent the letters or numbers.
Characters must not be moved from one group to the other (e.g. A242 ABC must not be displayed as A242A BC).

What size does my number plate have to be?
    • Character Height 64mm
    • Character Width 44mm
    • Character Stroke 10mm
    • Space between characters 10mm
    • Space between groups 30mm
    • Top, side & bottom margin 11mm
    • Space between vertical lines 13mm

Do I have to use a two-line number plate?
Motorcycles registered on or after 1 September 2001 must display a two-line number plate. Motorcycles registered prior to the 1 September 2001 may display a three-line plate. One-line plates are illegal, irrespective of the date of registration of the motorcycle.

Will I be fined if I dont abide by these rules?
Offences may result in a fine of up to £1000, the registration plate being withdraw and the vehicle may fail the MOT test, or all three combined.

Hi there, bit off topic I know but noticed you have black rearsets. Did you get the originals powdercoated? Looking to do the same myself.
    Cheers,
    Nigel

Yeah mate, I stripped it all down to component form and got a local guy to do them. Cost me £100 for all the bits front and rear in high gloss black and £100 for both wheels in anthracite with a heavy metal flake. He had to paint the gear shift rose joints tho as the rubber boots would have melted in a 200 degree oven!

Cheers mate, I was wondering how to tackle those parts but painting seems the best option as you say. Cool, I know a good powdercoater so will get them over to him in the winter. Lovely!
