Having ridden sensible commuting VFRs for a few years finally did the sensible thing and bought a 1000rr. Absolutely overjoyed with it and really re-kindled my love of motorbikes, still commuting 100miles a day but getting to work a lot quicker!

Unfortunately dream only lasted 11 days when some miserable, low life scum stole it from central London a couple of weeks ago, broad daylight 50 meters from office.

Just about calmed down and now looking at the £350 insurance as the best lottery ticket i've ever bought! New bike comes on Friday - with tracker and HMS belfast anchor size chain.. Have spent many an idle hour trawling through this web site to pass the time until the replacement comes, very therapeutic!!

thanks for the suggestion, looks like just the job. Given the weight of one would also be great for wrapping around a bike thief before launching them into a cesspit. Not that I'm bitter or anything..!!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, much appreciated after a poor start to FB ownership. Picked up the new bike today from Dobles. 120miles today and so pleased to be back on the blade. First service next week and a few bits going to be added.

Got to say, for all my concerns about how the insurance claim would go, Aviva came up trumps and sorted out the replacement bike within 2 weeks.

Now looking at ground anchors and track days - this fireblade business is a little different to owning a VFR1200!!

I really enjoyed driving it, great engine with big power smoothly delivered. Annoyingly poor distance from the small petrol tank for such a bug bike, and expensive to maintain (i never added it up but had 3 £1000+ services and dropped another £1000 on a radiator just before i got fed up and swapped it in for the fireblade)- the brakes were good but chewed up pads and 2 sets of discs in 50k.
