Have had my blade two years from new. It was a big leap as I returned from biking after over 20 year gap & never had a litre bike before. I'am not a big guy and always felt the blade was riding me, maybe a little too big for me & also not the confidence I once had. I jokingly have put on here before i must be the slowest blade rider. So after only two years & 1200 miles I have been tempted to get something a little smaller like a GSX750 or 899 Pani. But anyway I noticed on my stock tyres (Dunlop Qualifers) there was a very small piece of rubber missing on the front. Even though there was plenty of tread left in them I didn't want to take the risk & also tbh it was a good excuse to change them. I did a bit of research & decided on Metzeler Sportec's - had them fitted at the weekend & still scrubbing them in. But what a difference. On the Dunlop stock tyres I was hard;y using much of the rear tyre & had a nice thin chicken strip. Already on the Metzeler's I am using much more of the rear. They turn in much quicker & the blade feels much easier to get round corners. It is definitely more confidence inspiring. So, from not being sure about the blade it will now be a keeper - such a different bike. I'am now going to get the suspension sag properly set up in a couple of weeks & should be even better.
Soooo much better than the standard Dunlop's. Like you have only done a few miles to start to scrub them in.
Agree with that, after first year decided to dispose of the OEM dunlops and fit the metzelers, suspension setup too and what a difference, last years been so much better. Next new bike I buy the tyres are getting changed before it leaves the showroom
It's a well publicised fact that the OEM Qualifier 2's are absolute shyte! Fecked mine off after a few hundred miles and bought sumat decent.
Wait a minute in 2 years you did 1200 miles?????? is that a typo? not to mention you have just changed the standard tyres Dude that blade must have been torturer to ride those tyres new are terrible hopefully now you will get to enjoy the machine and start putting the mileage onto it
Yes same here, done 600 miles on a set now and very impressed, did have to drop the pressures compared to my S20R , now running 30 psi front and back and they seem to like that.
I have being debating the same thing, and pretty much decieded on m7rr over diablo rosso corsa's, I took the bike around Snetterton on the oem dunlop qualifiers 2 and must admit wasn't over confident. Did you put on 50 or 55 profile? That is my only debate, and why did you choose M7RR over racetech RR, or DRC/ Supercorsa? Cheers
I kept the same profile as the stock Dunlops. I chose the M7RRs as iIwas seduced by Michael Neeves MCN review (there is a good You tube clip). Interestingly my top bike mechanic I use said that most riders are currently opting for either M7RRs or Pilots - they seem to be the main ones riders are going for. Dude- whatever you get in the end they will be so much better than the stock ones from Dunlop. Even though I'am scrubbing them in I'am using much more of the rear & the bike turns in much quicker.
