Interested in your thoughts to help him Hi Rob I have a repsol 09 Blade and love it but for two little niggles A stone chip took out my top fairing which I accepted as part of the cost of new bikes being constantly lighter £250 plus several hours to fit a new one But then the paint began to come of my rear wheel!!! the bike had only done 500 miles when I purchased it and I noticed this by about 2000 miles after a ride I washed the bike and then sprayed a little wd40 on a cloth and wiped off the chain lube. I did this for years with my R1 I took it to Blackpool honda and have since been told its not a manufacturing fault but every where I take it to get remidied tells me that it is not right. I was really looking forward to owning a blade after reading all about honda build quality for years. I am starting to think this is just a myth Jamesblade
Thin paint is not a manufacturing fault, so I would think you'll need to just keep arguing with the dealer. I've heard of other Repsol bikes with the same issue, presumably because they just use the standard black wheels and give them a lick of orange paint.
Comes off mine too - the cloth goes orange. But im not that worried by it - in a few years get em resprayed or wax them with a Zymol like product.
its a swine when your having to powder coat the back wheel on a two year old bike that supposedly got ace build quality?
My supermoto has black powder coated wheels, which is now coming off to reveal an awful blue colour! (they came off a Husaberg)
Maybe the previous owner used a chemical cleaner on the wheels and softened the powder so maybe that why it comes off, On my repsol i use a sealent on the wheels and that stops the orange on the cloth when cleaning
I get the same, I put it up in a thread here once asking what is the best product to clean the wheels, wet wipes is the general opinion, even using wet wipes I get orange on the cloth and my blade is a rr11. Lets ask CoxHonda their view, they are here to help on maintenance etc.
Bollocks to that, it's a fault pure and simple and shows an unreasonable level of quality of what would be deemed & expected of a road going vehicle. Paint isn't meant to come off wheels no matter how Honda dealers wrap it up, if my black wheels went White/grey I'd park the bike at Honda UK and have a solicitor send them letters. Facts are gents it's not of satisfactory build quality and I doubt they'd even bat an eye lid if you pushed it hard enough, for them a wheel respray is penny's, bad customer service and shoddy workmanship would cost them £1000's you need to read up on your consumer rights and also pen them a letter, you'll find some good draft letter templates online, may want to read various sites starting with these just to get an angle on where your coming from. Ona similar note, my PVM's paint lifted when they got their first wheel change. When we took the wheel weights off it too the paint down to the metal. An email to PVM and 6 weeks later my wheels went off to Germany and back again re-painted all FoC.
