Hi all Apologies if this subject has been talked to death. I'm fairly new to the forum and have had my Blade a couple of weeks now. Can't get my head around how quiet the stock pipe is, and even though I wasn't going to spend anymore money, I just can't help but think it she needs a pipe. So, my question is......is there a pipe that bolts straight on and won't affect the engine management or warranty etc? Bikes no so wouldn't want to upset it (sorry I'm thick with engines so haven't got a clue). I notice the Akra seems to get lots of attention, is this the one to have? Where is best to purchase one from? Cheers
First of all try and disconnect the exhaust valve. If you ride around under 4k revs then wind it on you'll notice the exhaust get deeper. You can get this sound all the time by disconnecting the servo valve. Easy enough. Take off the black plastic cover under the seat ( located on the offside of the under tray behind the footrest hanger there are 3 plastic pop rivets), with the ignition on then back off make a note of where the servo wheel stops. Mark it with a pen where it's rest point is, turn it clockwise until you have some cable slack then disconnect the cable, then wind back the wheel to where you marked it and put the cover back on the under tray. Done. Take it out and have a ride to see if you prefer the noise. It's only there for noise regulations. Some say it makes the bike a little smoother at closed throttle openings but I'm not so sure. Never made much difference when I disconnected mine but sounded far better.
Niiiiiiicccceeee. I think if I upgrade, it will be the Akra. Is it a straight bolt on job? No fuelling or engine issues.
Yeah u get a fitting kit with it mate, spacers for right hand foot peg. Bolts on no problems, only thing I would say is leave the exhaust cable off. I tried it on at first but done my head in to quite below 4000rpm and didn't sound right when blipping down the throttle
Just had my second ride out with standard pipe and flapper mod.......sounds worlds apart from the day picked the bike up. It's safe to say I can live with this sound and for now I'll blow the grand on something else. Cheers for your help all
I think it sounds great.... Doubt I'll change it at all....unless I've got money burning holes.... Nah that's impossible with kids
