Hi everyone. Anyone who has a quick action throttle - what is the general consensus? I am not sure I like the amount of free play on the Blades throttle between rolling on the throttle and actually getting revs, especially when blipping it on downshifts, and when spending a day on track my wrists are aching as it is let alone having to twist the throttle heavy handily to simply blip it. So I'd love be to hear if a quick action throttle would reduce this free play and enable an easier 'blip'? Cheers
I think I mentioned this before, but mine's a HRC with no play. I don't blip, but then I do have a slipper clutch, so there are no problems with me rattling down through the gears.
Don't need to blip on down shifts if you have a slipper clutch. Just bang it down to the required gear and dump the clutch, the slipper will stop the wheel locking up and give you engine braking. You might just need the take up the slack in your throttle cables. A QA throttle will just reduce the amount a twist to throttle ratio which could help with you're wrist ache. Also look at the position of your clip-ons / bars along with the brake / clutch levers etc.
Thanks for replies gents, much appreciated. Everything taken on board and I'll check those bits outs. Other than that do you guys have any general experiences to share - pros / cons, benefits / sacrifices of using a QA? I'd imagine it'd take some getting used to but perhaps in the long run I'd get on with it, but I'm keen to know some experiences.
I actually don't think they do - I just think the blade has more free play (by this I mean from when you roll the throttle on to when the engine revs) compared to other bikes I've owned, and it's this which I hope a QA would eliminate and in turn give me more response with less movememt. I could be wrong of course!?
I have a HRC QA throttle and it certainly helps with wrist ache for higher up the rev range. I had no issues getting used to the reduced twist needed.
