Hi everyone after breaking my collar bone in bloody March and docs telling me to leave it then 6 weeks ago with still a massive lump on my shoulder and dong a 2 race weekends and 2 track days and struggling as the day went on finally saw a actual shoulder surgeon within 30 seconds I'm booked in for a LARS shoulder reconstruction and to cut / shave the end of bone off . I have 0 ligaments holding bone down and shoulder up and of left you have nerves running under armpit area where I'm getting the most pain they say it's around a 2.5 hour op and 8-10 weeks recovery (gutted) just wondered if anyone has had this procedure ? I smashed my collar bone at Christmas, took 12 weeks and still didn't have much strength in it. Now, it's fine and I didn't have any surgery. You can see 4 main pieces, but the CT scan revealed there are four more smaller pieces.... I also sustained a 4cm base of skull fracture and a 2.5cm temporal fracture....walking down the street and slipped on snow. I was pushing them to operate on it, but you have a number of nerves in that area, which can easily be damaged with surgery. This could lead to lack of feeling in your hand/arm.
Not Lars but had my rotator cuff repaired in May after my high side at anglesey in august 14. I've got the 3 little puncture hole scares to prove it
My friend had severe shoulder impingement, which required the shaving of the bone to help alleviate. He is very over cautious, yet his recovery was well ahead of where they said it might be, and he was back in the gym after 7 days, (obviously not doing shoulders). I've just had another friend have it done, but his is too recent for me to give any kind of outcome. I myself should also have it done, as an impingement from powerlifting is causing an aching pain most of the time, and limiting what I can do with the shoulder. Get it done, the 10 weeks will fly by, and hopefully your pain will be a thing of the past.
