I pressume the spec and everything else for europe is the same so i wouldnt mind travelling the distance for a new bike. Custom tax though i wouldnt have a clue
Great price - £11350 based on 1.4 Euros to £ That looks to include VAT (or the German equivalent - so there should be anything further to pay). Even after adding the cost to register it in the UK, collection (ride it back?) and Road Tax its a cheap bike. ABS though..
Only the front light is different. Germany got 20% VAT which you dont have to pay. Instead you pay 20% VAT in UK etc.
£11350 ( including 20% German VAT ). If you buy a pre reg SP ( Demo ) which was registered in Germany for at least 6 month, you dont have to pay UK-VAT or anything else because its declared a used bike etc.
Has anyone imported a bike from Europe recently? If so I would be interested to know what is involved. There look to be some good deals at the moment. I imported a new Subaru car from Holland in 2000 (UK Spec). At that time I needed a Certificate Of Conformity and the car came with temporary Transit plates so I could drive it back (insured on Chassis number). It was then a case of registering with the DVLA, paying a first registration fee and road tax.

Thanks for that - I didn't know the government charge 6% duty "The import duty rate for importing Motorcycle into United Kingdom is 6%". Is that correct even from the EU?
No import duty is due between two members of the EU Customs Union. This means that customs duties are only levied when the goods are imported into the EU. Once goods have been imported into the EU, no further customs duties must be paid within the customs territory - even if the goods cross internal borders of member states.
The pounds rise against the falling Euro (or mixture of both depending on how you look at it ) is impacting a lot of prices. Remember when the two were equal almost every used bike was being snapped up and shipped to Europe as UK bikes were so much cheaper, now its gone the other way. I bet down in Spain you could grab an absolute bargain of a used bike (bike like Greece but further to travel home) from a main dealer.
Yeah I remember that dealers were getting their showrooms emptied of used bikes by dealers from Europe.
