    R1 test ride

After years of r6/r1's I got my first fireblade in May.
Really pleased with the bike. As I bought it secondhand from my local Yamaha dealer they said to me to come in for test ride on new R1. Took it out today for 3 hours. Lots to like about it. But fueling so snatchy at low speeds in town. Out on open road it's a special bike.
But have to say I was looking forward to getting back to my blade. The blade just does everything so well.
The 08 r1 was close to blade but the rest are more track orientated.

Interesting. Glad you like the blade. Sometimes we yearn for the next best bike - good to hear you still like going home on the blade. I bought my blade new two years ago after a 21 year gap from biking & also my first litre bike (no wonder my first years insurance was insane). I wasn't quite sure the bike was for me - maybe a little too much/too big for me. i must admit i had doubts. However in the last few weeks i changed the tyres from stock Dunlop Qualifiers to M7RRs & had the suspension set up. What a different bike; particularly changing the tyres. I now look forward to going out on the bike & don't yearn to change it to the next best thing.

Glad you like the blade! Despite the lack of so called cutting edge tech it's still a great bike.

Am surprised to hear of a yamaha dealer with a new R1 test bike as none round here have any and won't buy a bike to put on test

It was Charles hurst in Belfast.
They are really good to deal with.
They have two reds and one blue left.
The R1 would be awesome trike bike.

My mate in work @Dode who's now on his second Blade recently took one out from Ecosse I Aberdeen I think it was and he reckons he prefers the Blade as the R1 was too uncompromising as a road bike.
