Surely they have to come up with something special?

In some recent superbike comparisons they are not even included :(

I'd probably be interested in it depending on the spec..though I'd keep my current bike as the resale value would never recoup the outlay on all the trick bits.
I have a 20 year old Suzuki 600 that still does the business, so given Honda's supposedly reliability and longevity reputation, it should give at least the same kind of service..
    I'd just have to build a bigger man-cave :D

If your on about last weeks MCN it does also suggest a minor update for 17 and a all new for 2019!!! which if true means I will be jumping ship next year. if we get more info over the next year and it's likely we will have a new blade in 17 i can wait. If not then i'm going to look else ware

2017 means they have used this current template for a decade. Smells to me like they can't be bothered with it anymore.

I just read the article, it seems Honda have no interest in competing with the current crop of superbikes.

Cant imagine them wanting to bury the Fireblade name tho so if they don't wanna compete then maybe it would be saved for something very worthwhile.

Honda have been behind the others for many years now. The new R1 is very sophisticated, as is the latest ZX10R and the other exotic bikes from Aprillia and Ducati are even better.
They are light years away from these 4 now.

but then when you actually put it to the test these 200bhp bikes are restricted by all the electronics they have so 200bhp is not really a true output, a friends BMW for example was dyno'd at 197 bhp at the wheel

When riding it feels a lot quicker but when we both open up he only just pulls away from my old 05

And SPS and rafel will back up my disapointment the other week when I opened up the old 05 behind one of those new H2R supercharged carbon things and he only just had the edge to pull away very slightly but was not disappearing (i wanted to see it vanish)
A new blade would have prob destroyed it

I really love my blade and have never kept a bike for the 4 and a half years I have o far. I would be happy to keep it another 2 years but not 4. Not that I don't love the blade. Just hearing them saying they are happy not to go the BHP wars and more 150BHP and 150KG. thats ok if your not a large lad lol

I just wish they would try and regain the mantle of ultimate sports bike. The first FireBlade took the world by storm and then it seems Honda have rested on their laurels a bit since the 954, arguably the the best looking blade ever.

My 5 years 0% is up in 2018 so if no new blade in 17 will be happy enough to wait another year if they gonna do an all new blade in 19. It's not all about fancy electronics, the fireblade prob still has the best real world road handling out of all these new track focused bikes.
That said,i would like to see them shift to a tried and tested ABS system rather than going it alone,or my money may end up in the hands of BMW.

I think economic downturn and then tsunami really hit Honda hard. They seem to be slow to catch up. I think also that they will want to stick to the principle of 'Total control'... Especially as it has made the blade the best selling super bike.

Will be interesting to see if they throw as many toys at it as the 2015 S1000rr. I test rode one and it did have the grin factor. Made you feel special and like a kid with a cool new toy. It also made me feel my my fekin legs were on fire and my hands were numb from the vibes through the bar. So I bought a 2014 blade. And I love it. :D
