I know this is a bit like 'how long is a piece of string', but just wondering how far I could push my luck if ridden gently? Light comes on at 12.5 litres used, tank is 17 litres right? How far do you guys ride with the light on?
Mine starts flashing 0.0 when fuel light comes on, when it gets to 0.7 you're on vapours....I usually get about 30 miles out of it before it hits that mark
I got up to a flashing 1.0 the other day and was a bit nervous. Had done about 7 miles from flashing zero to flashing 1.0. That said I may have not been gentle with the throttle. 70 mile round trip, 2 days commute. I did manage to get to the garage at the end of my street today so that's about 140 miles but it's the first time and I rode home soon slow, relatively speaking. I can only usually manage 1.5 days! Note to self.?. Stop riding too fast
My light came on at Ballater fuelled at Blairgowrie distance of 50 miles still had a litre left in tank.
I'm a bit confused with that....probably the bottle of wine I've consumed my reading is 0.7 of a gallon I understand...is yours showing ltrs? I don't touch any of them buttons on the dash, they're the devils tool all I want is my bike to start...go like f*ck and flash nicely at me when she needs some more go juice
Mine is in litres and in theory it should go to 3.5, but I've only taken it to 2.5. If I take it really easy, then 1 mile is 0.1 litre. Useful to know if you are nearly home and don't want to stop and fill up.
I set off to work this morning with the light flashing 0.4 work and back 22 miles plus a detour of around 3 miles due to resurfacing filled up at 2.4 flashing. Thought I was pushing it a bit ! Seems not
Yeah mine is definitely in litres. Lol, it does read back a bit funny. Anyway, if it goes to 3.5 I don't need to freak out too much when I get to flashing zero. Ace, now I can pin it on all 4 commutes!
jeez whats all this about flashing amounts in litres lol my trusty RR6 light comes on and ive got between 20 and 35 miles depending on how fast then its time to push
A couple of times, I didn't want to stop for fuel when the light came on. I rode at 70 mph max and no more than 4.5k rpm. What I do is switch the display to average mpg, zero it and keep monitoring to get some idea of your range. e.g if your average mpg is 50 then you should cover 25 miles by using 0.5 g of fuel
It doesn't really matter unless you are forced into a situation where you can't find a petrol station open at 8oclock at night like up here in Scotland. Get to 120 miles then fill it. I go 80 miles to my work then fill it for the 80 miles back. The reason I do this is if it's a nice day I will thrash the fook Oort of it over the hills home. There are no fuel stations and I don't want to waist a good day on good roads conserving fuel.
I once rode very carefully for 45 miles with the fuel light on my bike (RR5) thinking I would be on fumes but at the petrol station it only took 15.5lL to fill it so I had more in than I thought.
