absolutely Graeme.. sounds just awesome and i really hope I can help out somehow! your right, life is far too short and I've lost too many people close to me in life to think we are here for ever.. I think you should go for it big time!
Well I will certainly give it my best shot and think it is doable just need a bit of luck along the way ,gilsey I nearly lost a twin sister to cancer so life is short we aren't here long enough to dwell on the ifs and buts
Longest day dawn do the challenge in the summer solstice.. John e groats to,land Send on A 300 quid shitter for charity.. Would be a good day to attempt. I know a few that did it last year ( my mate won) they do it for cancer. Plenty of support veichles on that route that day so help would be plentiful

Did not happen Dave not that I did not want to do it I got this reply from Guinness Sent from my iPhone Begin forwarded message:From: [email protected] Date: 22 June 2015 12:01:18 BST To: [email protected] Subject: Guinness World Records - Application Update Thank you for sending us the details of your proposed record attempt for 'John o groats to lands end on a motorbike fastest'. Unfortunately, after thoroughly reviewing your application with members of our research team, we are afraid to say that we cannot accept your proposal as a Guinness World Records title. Due to the nature of timed competitive events which take place on a public highway, unless the highway used is closed off specifically for the purpose of the record attempt then we are unable to accept record categories which require the participant to race on the public highway. This decision has been made on the basis of such events being highly dangerous to both the public and participants as well as encouraging participants to break any local speed restrictions. Whilst we appreciate that you may not intend to break any laws or drive in a dangerous manner there would come a point where the only way to break the record would be to do so. Whilst we appreciate this is not the decision you hoped for, we trust that you will understand our decision. You may want to consider these record titles as alternatives: Greatest distance on a motorcycle in 24 hours (individual) Once again thank you for contacting Guinness World Records. Many thanks Records Management Team Please be aware that as your record application has not been accepted, Guinness World Records is not associated with the activity relating to your record proposal and does not endorse this activity in any way. If you choose to proceed, then this is will be of your own volition and at your own risk. Guinness World Records will not monitor, measure or verify this activity. This is an automatically generated email, please do not reply to this message. No surprises there really Graeme. I think that particular point had already been discussed. If you did it and managed to break the time then any publishing in public of the fact would open up the chance of the boys in blue visiting. It could only be bandied about in the underground scene where plausible deniability would be a legal fog stopping any prosecution arising
I may be missing something but their suggestion of considering "Greatest distance on a motorcycle in 24 hours (individual)" as an alternative... How different to a point to point attempt is that within the context of "Due to the nature of timed competitive events which take place on a public highway, unless the highway used is closed off specifically for the purpose of the record attempt then we are unable to accept record categories which require the participant to race on the public highway"...? I mean, I'm sure their legal team has an answer, but doing a 'Jimbo' is just as likely to encourage you to drive like a maniac as racing for a finish line...
Greatest distance in 24 hours can be done on a circuit/oval track, I think thats what they are saying there.
yeah as i'm either a) fcuked after 18 laps b) in A&E after less but i'd challenge any man on a cross country / continental marathon....
Jimbo, You do realise Dave is sitting over in the corner rocking back n forth and breathing into a paper bag at the very thought of you attempting such a challenge!
