Stevie, that was my thoughts towards the tool kit, which is why its now obsolete. I am a AA member too, but thankfully have needed them for any of of my own vehicles. I run my Optimate charger lead down the side of the frame by the side of my left leg, so don't need to open it to hook it up. Nicely tucked away.
Under my seat cowl...Teng mini socket set, Gerber multi-tool, puncture repair + visor spray cleaner, micro fibre cloth a couple of cable ties. Always ride with my Kriega waist pack so that carries money, phone occasion drink bottle
Somebody tell me they've broken down and fixed their blade with the contents of the toolkit under the seat , I'd be gobsmacked if so
My PCV is under the riders seat where exhaust valve motor used to sit. Under pillion seat I have nice soft piece of rag, tool kit, puncture repair kit, a few cable ties and some extra fuses.
A couple of high security padlocks(disclocks), sidestand puck, optimate connector, PCV unit, Speedo-healer unit and a bag with a selection of cable ties, basic tools to get fairings off and fix anything minor and wet wipes. I think thats it...
Helmet cable, waterproof helmet bag, Optimate charger lead, stand puck, tool kit and a crucifix to ward off any vampires. Anything else goes into a back pack.
I know this might sound morbid or negative... But.. I see a few saying that they keep their mobile phone under the rear seat cowl, which is fine. Suppose you have an off whilst out on a solo run in the countryside...as we all do from time to time. You go one way, the bike goes the other. In a majority of cases the first thing to go flying, after you have, is the tail section and it's contents..now you have a situation where your laying on the ground, thinking "ouch.. that smarts somewhat" "I'd best call and get some assistance" What with ?? Your mobile is somewhere else, most likely chucked into deep cover getting closely inspected by rabbits or shrews.. That twisty backwater road that was such a thrill to ride and is always nice and quiet, now has a leather clad scarecrow adorning it who's thinking.. "Bollocks...should have put the phone in my pocket" Just my opinion and a thought....
Earplugs, in my case, are usually kept in my trouser pocket and always make an appearance when I'm getting some change out for a coffee at a bike stop somewhere.. Not so much spare..more like ones that I used on the previous ride..and the one before that..and the one before that...and got shoved in there and forgotten about, there's always around a half dozen... I usually pick out the cleanest, least fluff contaminated pair and sling the rest lol.
Mobile in the pocket is a definate, along with wallet and house keys. I've bought a CO2 puncture kit, which I've stuffed under the seat now too. The space under the seat is far better than my old 2012 Kwaka ZX10R though. You could just about get a Snickers bar in there
Ah but, keep in a little polythene bag with a snap connector to keep it dry which is what I do as I seem to have a length of para cord on the back of my bike with a bloody rain cloud attached to it!!! Haha
I wished I had it once..or at least a spanner...when my mirror broke was dangling...so I could not ride back. Called the wife to drive me my tools down...lol
Waterproof jacket, toolkit. I use a Kreiga bum bag to carry Edz , visor cleaner ,cloth and phone numbers for recovery.
