Hi all, believe it or not, my name is Nick.... Haha, 52, living in the North East. Been riding bikes for a while and now have my 2nd Blade which a RR9 in HRC colours. Am sort of retired now but for the last 5 years I've been fortunate to have a company bike as part of the package for my job. I was managing a rider development programme for our local authority until the funding dried up in March this year. The scheme was quite unique as most people booked a two day advanced course and expected me to be sat there in high viz on a Pan or a BMW. We operated a bit differently from that..... My first company bike was an '07 R1 which I really liked. When that was due for renewal in 2011 I was given the option of what I wanted, only condition being was that it had to come from a local dealership. I saw a new Blade and loved the look but 1st impressions were that it was tiny. Once I sat on it I was surprised at how much space there was on the bike. Anyway, that's what I got and I loved it from the outset.... Did 27,000 miles on it in 3 years and then sadly, the programme folded, I saw out my contract and the bike went along with the job. Left work, went straight into a house move, finished my jobs in our new house last week and went out and found another Blade which I bought straight away. Sorted my insurance, rode it home and it was just like being with an old friend. Spent a day cleaning to get it to my OCD standards and then it started raining!! Looking forward to having some craic on here. Cheers, Nick.
Thanks for the welcomes, seems like you have members from all over. I'm in the North East in a small village in between Stockton and Sedgefield. I didn't really bother with any extras on my former blade due to it being a company bike but need to put some bits on this one. Looking at a hugger, rad guard, and probably some heated grips initially as I like to ride all year round. Also, can anybody suggest the easiest way to hard wire a Tom Tom urban rider. Battery on it is about goosed so it needs power.
Have you got 'O' level Geography? Close, but no cigar, next village along from Carlton.... Redmarshall
Hi Nick, nice into, ask around for info on upgrades and check out parts for sale as most bits come up.
I still got some Oxford Heated Sport Grips from my Blade, if you are interested ? ( and some other parts as well )
That's a nice offer, thanks. Rad guard is my priority at the minute. My works bike had one on and I never thought to take it off. How much are you looking for for heated grips?
Thank you for letting me know. I mentioned this to my beloved wife last night and she said that she'd prefer that I didn't get anything off the list (included Oxford sports grips, R&G Rad guard, power bronze hugger) that I subtley made out on the lead up to my Birthday at the end of this month. So I'd best hold back on them. In fairness, she rarely takes any interest whatsoever in my bikes, so the list was more for what I wanted to prioritise. Can't believe she would still want to be that nice to me after 30years!!
