A few years ago I had a disco/karaoke business that did quite well, but when I started my new job I didn't have the time to keep it going, so I packed it in. I had a lot of kit, took up half my lounge, but just gathered dust. A guy at my workplace heard I was thinking of selling it and he and his buddy offered to buy it and would pay me for it on a monthly basis, which they did. Till Xmas last year, even though they were quite busy, they got a bit lax in the repayments. Now they only owe me £150 but have been spouting bullshit excuses for the past 7 months, yet Facebook say's different, even a 2 week holiday to Benidorm. Txt's and phone calls have been going unanswered/ignored, then this week I found out this guy got a compo payout from the local council from when he fell down a hole and broke his leg...a few £k So my patience has run out, a phone call to an associate who knows some characters who would gladly accept £150 just for going and collecting it. It's not about the money anymore, I've written that off, it's just the principle of him taking the piss.
Nothing worse than the feeling your having the piss taken.. would be a shame if anything was to happen to his other leg..
I think I'd be visiting their next disco with a van & some burly blokes & it would be loaded up before you could say now then pop pickers!
Get a third party to book them for an supposed occasion then turn up with the heavies and reclaim the equipment, as they haven't paid in full they don't own it and have only been renting it until paid in full!
Nothing worse than getting shafted especially by someone you know. Have you thought of the small claims court. I'm not sure whether it's worth it or not, but it would be a brilliant case of sweet revenge if the court bailiff interrupted his wedding disco gig by serving him with a writ in front of the massed crowd just as he was about to play his 'Hits on 45' compilation time filler, just as the bride's dad was about to take to the dance floor to do his Saturday Night Fever dance routine with a glass in one hand and a fag in the other.
One thing that is likely to end up giving me a coronary is the frustration when somebody is scoring points off me.
I've simply done what banks and other financial establishments do, that is sell the debt on to someone else..it must be legal otherwise they wouldn't do it
No debt Recovery Co would be interested in a poxy £150 job. I'd just be paying some suitable Monkey to give him a Kickin' instead whilst I'm in a significantly different location surrounded by reliable witnesses etc! Much better satisfaction route!
