Guys I'm after a torque wrench for use on my blade. Any ideas as to what would be a good buy ie make, size and spec etc. Many thanks
Depends what for? And what size 1/4, 3/8 or 1/2.. They cause more people to snap bolts imo as they aim for the target number and forget to "feel".. Snap On tech wrench for me.. And Snap On manual 1/2 long bar.. I don't trust any others.. I do have a small draper one, its been replaced once..
Thanks mate I just looked on e-bay and there's far too many for sale for someone with my lack of knowledge. Mick
Heres a good little 3/8 for home use.. (fork pinch bolts if you must) Draper Torque Wrench 3/8 Drive Reversible Ratchet 34570 | eBay and a 1/2 for wheel spindle nuts etc.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Draper-1-...t=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item23177c9da7 Dont bother with m6 (1/4 drive torque wrench) engine case bolts just nip them up with a small 8mm T bar hold it near the middle and do not over tighten them.. I like these:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/T-BAR-SOC...44?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item43abe01e20
If you can afford! snap on torque wrench 3/8" drive QD2RN100 | eBay I got the same cost me 185 notes and also got a 1/4 of for the small stuff ie 5to 25 nm Or on a budget get Sealey Torque Wrench 3/8"Sq Drive 2-24Nm STW1012 | eBay
Buy a cheap one from Aldi or Lidl and calibrate it against an expensive one, borrow one off one of these rich gits???
I wasn't going to admit it after the advice that's been given, but I did buy a cheap one from e-bay. Funds permitting I may upgrade at some point in the future.
I only ever use one on engine rebuilds and cylinder heads. Beware when torquing up M6 casing cover bolts, you could strip the threads with standard torque settings. Do not put lube on bolts when you torque em, do it dry!!!1 Oohh err missus!!!
The amount of bolts I sheared in My apprenticeship pissin ell I tell u what u learn to be more careful when u gotta extract the bolts etc. I'm pretty heavy handed at the best of times lol
I have a 3/8th and 1/2th drive torque wrenches from the halfords professional range. Cant fault them yet. Had them calibrated at work and they are spot on.
