Just got back from the Isle of Man!
If your contemplating going, just do it!
It's an amazing island!

Good time to go tho roads quiet blast on

 

My first visit was 1980 on my GPZ1100, been numerous times since and yes your a few weeks early

 

speed camera wasnt covered up unfortunately!

 

deliberately avoided race week cos we wanted to be able to enjoy the roads, and the island!
i think we're going back next year - again not for race week though!

 

Having been to the TT on several occasions 9 of us are going on 11th September for 3 nights for the very same reasons you say. Quiet roads. Great place. Really looking forward to it

 

The island is a must on my list. One day i will and i know it would be an amazing experience

 

That camera was destroyed on at least 2 occasions. Sadly it now has a camera to protect the camera. Hopefully it will remain the only speed camera on the Island. Be careful if your planning a trip before the TT races as there are lots of temporary speed limits in place for road works.

 

Thinking of a few days over there myself, any recommendations of somewhere to stay ?

 

I can recommend Cherry Orchard apartments at Port Erin. We had a room for five of us, good value, good beer and good food what more do you want after a day watching racing.

 

Really want to get over to the IOM, whether it be for the TT or not.

We are staying at the Balmoral Guest House in Port Erin next month. I'll pop a report on here when we are back. A group of us stayed at Cherry Orchard for the TT week a few years ago and it was fine for us then. Port Erin isn't exact lively, even in TT week, but it has a couple of pubs for the evenings so we were happy enough !
