Hey everyone, basically I am going to the GP this Sunday race day and as I have never been before I need advice on general stuff like what time to be there for? Parking the bike? And the general timescale of the day. I have just given my bike a thorough going over including new rubber so I'm all set to go. Cheers in advance
I drove there year before last... we got there at about 9:30am, and the queue to get in was only about 2 miles, and was moving. Any later and it would've been horrific (if the melee to get out is anything to go by!) Obviously being on a bike, much of that is irrelevant as you can simply filter through the queues, safe in the knowledge that those queuing in cars are relatively bike-aware. To be honest, there wasn't as much to see and do as I was hoping... we killed an hour wandering around the various stalls/stands, but after that there's not a great deal else going on away from the track (unless you desperately wanted to watch James Toseland perform with his band ) We found you could get good seats for the Moto3/2 by turning up to a good stand 15 minutes before the race... but for the MotoGP the good stands were pretty full up 45 mins before the start.
My mates are there for the weekend & was going to ride down Sunday but weather looking iffy at mo and gate prices are eye watering! Think it'll be bacon butties & watching it at the biker cafe if its raining!
Watch it on TV you can't see nothing at silver stone went to Barcelona Much better and worked out the same price with main straight grandstand seats rip off Britain.
Ticket prices a bit rich for my blood, so me the missus and the lad are having a Brit GP Buffet lol Constant flow of bad food and drinkies with a few in house bets. And no rain soaked clothes if the weather is a begger, hope those of you going have fun and the weather plays ball.
Last time I went, there was hard standing for bikes, long queue's to enter and leave the circuit, but from what I remember bike exit is different from cars so not too much of a problem. Weather not looking good, so may stay at home and watch it on tv
Ticket prices weren’t an issue for me as my friend gave my little brother and I the tickets for free which was good . However, he gave us them because he can’t go due to having a crash on his bike, which isn’t good . Traveling down the A7 out of Edinburgh, tipped into a blind corner only to find someone doing a three point turn on the Apex. Only had his new bike about a week and that’s it written off and he is left with a bad injury to his leg. That’s another thing about this weekend, roaming tickets for the Friday & Saturday however on the Sunday the tickets are for the Suzuki stand Copse A. So for the sake of free tickets I need to impersonate a Suzuki rider….. Any tips to get the most out of the Saturday?
Get there early and enjoy it and if it rains its only water so will dry soon enough Will rain a lot more when it goes to Wales
Andrew, are you going to Silverstone? Exactly that, hopefully it doesn’t though. Will be a good weekend if it holds off.
If you want to appear like a level- headed Suzuki owner you will need to dribble from both sides of your mouth at once.
i shall be watching from the best seat possible.....................my lounge !! seriously though you cant beat the atmosphere...was there a couple of years ago so enjoy the queue !!
Weather doesn't look so bad at the moment, gave the bike a major overhaul yesterday and managed to flatten the battery, have it on a trickle now. Worryingly though I found a slight problem with the rear brake pads.
