There is people on the roads now half that age should take another driving test and eye test , the standard of driving these days is poor to say the least
I've had the same thing happen to me on a roundabout where the driver did a full 180 and went back the way he came, never even saw me. Comes into my mind every time I enter a roundabout now. Also hate people who treat roundabouts as chicanes, chopping straight across, I've been squeezed into the central kerb to many times. Part of the blame must go to the road planners and designers, we've had a number of disasters on the island when the local council has had a fiddle with junction layouts and the latest one is a corker.
I had a conversation with someone once who genuinely said "cars have 'right of way' over bikes like buses do with cars, I always pull out in front of bikes cos they should slow down", I had to walk away before I bitch slapped him. and don't even get me started on the folk who are obviously texting while passing junctions (or they have an unhealthy obsession with their own crotch areas). stay frosty ladies & gents, we might as well have targets painted on us!
Many people can't drive for shit, but old people seem esp dangerous, (obviously there will be some spot on older drivers, but I don't notice those as they are driving properly). Last week there was an old guy, who wanted to turn into a car park, which the entrance to was right off a roundabout. The car park was for a hotel, and there was a coach unloading, blocking the entrance, so he thought he would just stop and wait, on the roundabout, blocking the whole thing! Not only that, but he would have to move to let the coach out, before he could go in anyway. I was on the bike and said to him he was blocking the entire roundabout, to which he seemed surprised, absolutely no awareness
Before we slag off every other road user except ourselves let me just play Devils advocate on the original post. Just because a road user is in the left hand lane on the approach to a roundabout doesn't necessarily mean they have to take the first exit. They would use that lane if they were going straight on, and wouldn't indicate until they went past the exit before the one they were leaving on, then they would indicate left. Just saying like....
As you do on the driving test, otherwise it's a minor fault IIRC. And then you get those who like to use telepathy rather than the factory fitted indicators, then get all pissy when a big ol Transit gets in their way.
