Guys Does anyone know how to eliminate the lean angle sensor, is there a plug in or can you short the wires ?
Scooby I put some track fairings on the bike for a track day and the bike keep cutting out. When I got it back home I discovered it was the lean angle sensor. Do you happen to know what wires have to shorted.
well replace it then,it really isn't worth the possible damage it can cause running without it (the engine in my bike has just been rebuilt due to running on it's side for a very short time). i dont know off hand,pm jase,he will tell you.
Is it not still in the nose cone on the later models, fitted to the clock bracket? You can test it static by rattling it around and turning it while the bike is idling. You could even make up a link to short out the connector to test during a session, but I'm with Scoob on this, better to fix it than bypass it. Same argument as with side stands, if you have one then leave the switch in. Edit: Just realised you may mean BMW, so the location may differ.
Sorry didn't explain with enough detail, the securing point for the sensor is no longer available when I removed the OEM fairings. I have tried tie wrapping in position, but as I said before the bike keep cutting out. I was enquiring whether anybody else had experienced this and if they had a practical solution. Thanks for the advice anyway.

If you've fixed it into position (mine is the same) it's unlikely it's the fixing that's wrong... More than likely a faulty switch. Have you checked its not the side stand switch either.... That can cause it to cut out. Personally wouldn't bypass as scooby says.
Ive since put the OEM fairings back on and the bikes running fine. I also bypassed the switch and removed the the stand when used on track. Thanks Moon that looks like what I'm looking for
Have you checked it since putting stand back on and now fine..... I.e just refitted stand, the. Put all fairings on and fired it up? If you leave all the gubbins for side stand on but remove the stand, the ring that acts as a switch turns as lose and cuts the bike out... Just like a tilt sensor.... I know as my bike was doing it at donny, until we cut the wire and closed the circuit it kept doing it.
Jimbo Ive got another plug connector for the stand switch which I use for track days this has been shorted. Managed to sort the lean switch problem I've made a bracket seems ok, need to test on the road when we get a drier day. Thanks for all the comments, I'll let you know the outcome when I take it for test ride !!!!
