I'm desperate to do a track day before I get to old but was wondering what would be the best way for me to experience this.
Do I go to somewhere like Ron Haslams Race School at Donington.
Do I take my own 2013 road bike and just sign up for a novice group at a track day or are there other ways to experience a track day. If i take my own bike will it pass the noise level test with a Yoshimura carbon R77 fitted. Its something I want to tick off my 'to do' list. Your suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you

I did the Ron haslam first, gave me confidence to then use my own, I think u can get novice only and road bike only track days so your not getting racers in the wrong groups

I booked in to donington, novice group for my first, I even rode to the track with the mrs on the back, looking back it probably wasn't the smartest way to do it. but I didn't come off, took my time learning the track, spoke to almost every other person in the paddock & just enjoyed the day, it's not racing after all.

other people will help you if you ask, I talk to as many people as I can, especially before my first ever session at cadwell because I was bricking it for that one.

nowadays I'll hire a van & drive to the circuit just in case. track schools like ron haslems get good reviews, I've haven't used one yet but I imagine they help massively & you use their bikes which is a plus

A group of guys from Honda of Bournemouth do the Ron Haslam school every year and say how good it is.

It is good mate, you don't get loads of track time 3 15min session, but you do get training.

A novice road bike only day would be ok but for the first time I do like the sound of Ron Haslam school with their bike.

like cbrjay said, it's proper track training at haslam's so it's probably the best/safest way to do your first. I just googled trackdays, found donington for £75 in November & jumped in with both feet, young & reckless lol

It's worth doing first mate, gives you track awareness, right lines and confidence. If u do then want to use your bike check if there are any races at the track your using a day or so after yours cos you can get racers turning up testing.

I had it happen at Anglesey, we went on the Thursday (I think) and there was club racing on the sat, I was in inters but there was loads of very fast people who should have been in fast group

    My own view.

I looked into a school before doing my first TD. Looked at the price and how much it was compared to doing 2-3 trackdays.

So I booked a TD with a few mates. Went to Pembrey and loved it. Even took my brand new only 6 months old Blade on track. Best thing I did.

So unless money is no object get a TD booked ( Found No limits to be very very good) with mates. Go and enjoy the day. it's safer then the road

Just book it and I know you will love it
