    Not really sure
    a) what they are called
    b) what they are for

Surely the last thing you want when you're lent over is to catch it?
Took them off for Brands Hatch the other day, but interested to know why they are installed?

Hero Blobs. Will touch down before any other bits of your bike does.

Thanks. So without them you run the risk of scraping pipe work? They seem a little over-proud?

Honda make the longest hero blobs in the World.....they can double as a side stand/stabilisers.

I think the idea is they warn you that you're leaning over and as you said stop you scraping exhaust or body work, but they just unsettle the bike and knock you off line when they touch down.

Besides, knowing how far you're leant over is what your knees/elbows are for ;)

They can sit in the garage with the rest of the original components then!

I'd imagine you'd have to not lean off the bike at all for them to be useful.

They're 'you need to slow down' indicators. If you start taking the p**s on the road you'll scrape them. :p

I disagree that they unsettle the bike as the peg is hinged so it just deflects. Now if you had fixed pegs and touched down

I heard that as soon as you take them off you unlock the moto GP rider inside yourself and immediately become a front runner in the moto GP.

My proof is when Stoner left ducati he put them back on and that's why Rossi was shit on the Duke or so the legend says  100% fact you know :D

They do make you stain your undies when you hit them hard. I never bothered to remove them just ground them down a little.

At brands I hit them so hard it bent them so I removed them now. And will be doing this sooner in the future. And I mean bent 90 degrees backwards at Clark Curve going onto the straight

They are special hooks to catch in your boots when you lift your foot up too quick! Hate the blooming things.

I lost one in Monaco, I'd like to be able to say it was when I came round Loewes hairpin but it was actually when filtering down to La Rascasse on one of the concrete blocks they have to stop vehicles scrapping the wall. Bloody things are a nuisance.

Took mine off as they used to catch in the top of my boots.
