Depends on the brand. Accumen plugs inline with the clocks. GI-Pro plugs into the red diagnostic port behind the left upper fairing.

Gi pro are the best out there with good reviews. I fitted mine a few months back so pretty straight forward job. Instructions were clear too. Do a search on this forum and good luck. Oh, and red is the most visible on all weathers.

I got the bike shop to do it while they were doing some other bits for me, but they didn't say it was any kind of issue, and normally they would if it had been.

No. Just the petrol tank cover, so that you can run the cable through to the plug in thing near the battery. Put the bike on paddock stands so you can change gear ; this will set the synchronise the unit to the gears.

If you use the GI-Pro on a 2005, you need to take the left(as you sit on the bike) middle faring off. Really easy job took me about 15 mins from start to finish.

Yeah will be a red plug with a cap on it (sometimes covered with black tape for some reason), plugs straight in. I fitted my display on the left side of the instrument cluster with the supplied Velcro stuff, zip tied the wire to the fairing stay, and along the clutch cable till it disappeared into the fairing, connected the plug and tidied up the remaining cable. Job done

As said 05-07 is behind left hand fairing by the fuses. 08+ is under the seat.
