Filled up with fuel, bike on side stand to pay. 100 yards down A9 to junction, first left turn, front and back of bike let go like it was on ice. Can only think both tyres got smeared in oil /diesel.
Ouch, sorry to see that. Pick up some diesel as you left the petrol station? I hit a patch about 6 inch square the other day on a roundabout and bike did a little skip out at the back, if I'd have been going faster or the patch was bigger it could have had the same outcome.
Think I must have picked up diesel at the filling station. Was only doing maybe 25 mph and modest lean angle. Was a left turn and the first time that bit of the tyre would have touched the road after being on the sidestand. Possible fractured shoulder. New lid and jacket. Not sure about the bike. May be cosmetic. But left side took a hit. Frame slider badly bent, just hope it hasn't bent the frame.
Sorry to hear that mate bloody diesel can be a pain at filling stations they really should keep desiel and petrol pumps seperate due to this

It's a shitter it really is. So sorry to see this specially when it's not the riders fault... I've been down on diesel on a roundabout so know how easy it is... It's this experience that means I ride like a complete novice for about a mile after every fill up. honestly scares me.... Thinking what's on your tyres. And so many blissfully unaware Hope you and bike fix up ok mate. And not to much of a drama

Ah man ;( I'm always so paranoid of this happening. Sort of thing that could really happen to any of us. Hope the insurance company don't dick you around and for a happy outcome.
Sorry to hear about this, mate. Don't be too hard on yourself. As you say you probably have ridden through some diesel at the filling station. The bike and stuff can be fixed. I know it's heartbraking to look at but at the end of the day it's just plastic and metal. Important thing is that you're not too badly hurt. I very nearly had a similar situation the other week. Pulled in to fill up and when I put my feet down I could feel them squirming. It felt like an ice rink under my feet I decided against it and rode away without filling up. Went to another petrol station across the way. I rode there as gingerly as I could, testing the grip by giving it a bit of throttle when the bike was completely upright and straight.
That's a sorry sight fella. At least it wasn't into an oncoming vehicle, otherwise it could have been a very different outcome. Glad you're not too banged up. Hope the bike is fixed. Agree, with previous posts, they should keep petrol and diesel pumps separate.
Given the location possibly a diesel spill - I always tread lightly around the first corner after a filling station. Some twat without a filler cap probably. Just takes one. Had exactly the same experience on my 6 month old blade a couple of years ago.
Gutting to read, Andy. One of my pet hates, road spillages. I have a long history of fighting county council over it and they only ever pricked up their ears over it when I mentioned it was on the cycle path too. Different priorities, I'm afraid, but at filling stations it's a bloody lottery.
