Was out yesterday with a mate who has a Naked 1000r. lovely bike and not bad bike for a 24yo. So was in mid wales with him and was talking and ended up swapping his bike for 30 mins or so. I've not ridden anything apart from Sports bikes in the past 4+ years. Was very comfy position. But I don't miss the wind blast over Mway speeds. But it has plenty of grunt but found the gear peg to be a little small so missed a gear once or twice and the mirrors vibrated like a bitch. Also forgot how light a sit up and beg bike is when your not over the bars like you are on a sports bike. But apart from that a very tidy fun bike
Chopped in my blade for one on Saturday. Not had a problem with the gears and the quick shifter is great. Agree about the mirrors, shite above 5k rpm. Bit of waggle on the bars at high speed acceleration, apparently solved by putting an ohlins damper in, but that's not great tbh. Overall it does what I want, which is give me a shitload of torque and power but keeps me below 150, is comfy and ok in traffic. The Akrapovic can sounds awesome, crackles and bangs on the overrun, love it. What I would say is it doesn't feel as smooth and well made as the blade. I guess on the blade your money is buying brilliant engineering and build quality but on the beemer you're buying a lot of toys as well, and it still manages to be cheaper than the blade. Can't wait til Honda make a proper mental supernaked.
Mine is smoother than a Fireblade and the smoothest bike I have ever owned. The fuelling is spot on! Mine
Nice screen - is that the Wunderlich? Just fitted one last night, made a big difference to the buffetting. It's growing on me generally.
Yeah it's the Wunderlich Touring screen. I've had it pretty much since I got the bike so hard to tell what the difference is from stock
Definitely less neck ache than with the little stock binnacle cover. Looks a lot better than the BMW tall screen too IMO. I also bought a Wunderlich rad guard but the dealer told me my warranty would be invalidated if I fit it due to the risk of overheating. FFS.
I think the BMW screen looks pretty bad personally. I have Evotech rad guards on mine and the warranty issue seems to be a UK thing only. I have never had any issues with rad guards and dealer support. The radiator is so exposed on this bike there is no way I would not run a guard on it.
Agree, it's mental. Already got a dent in the rad fins after 100 miles. Will get it to its first service in a couple of weeks then think about putting it on.
Yeah, it's what I'll do I think. Pretty sure the Wunderlich one needs cable ties at the top, annoyingly, but I guess I can buy a bagful for a few quid. I'm on S1000r UK but read and look more than post.
Ohh I am also looking at one of these and chopping in my speed triple and blade...wanted something that was like the triple but with the power of the blade... I like that, and more specifically the screen and belly pan, I hate on nakeds when the bottom is exposed, but that looks a treat, chrisopotamus what is the belly pan?
Ohh found it a Wunderlich carbon belly pan, think I have just found my new bike! Thank you sooo much for posting....hmm supposed to be saving for a wedding, how am I going to get this through!
It's made by ilmberger http://www.ilmberger-parts.de/ilmberger-carbon/motorspoiler-aus-carbon-bmw-s-1000-r.html and I got it from http://www.bs-motoparts.com/en/carb...1000-r-2014-carbon-ilmberger-i780-33108-0.htm
